VIDEO: ALPINE A110 SPORT IS GOING ON A DIET AND GETTING A POWER UPGRADE TO 300BHP

Alpine's return to form was all due to the release of its A110 – and now they've decided to make it even more special.

The 1.8-litre engine will be tuned to push out 300bhp and, with the engineers taking a scalpel to some of the interior's trim to shave 50kg off the weight, it'll blast to 62mph in less than four seconds. The current car is limited to 155mph top speed so it remains to be seen if this will be removed from the uprated A110 Sport.

Programming for the dual-clutch gearbox, steering, exhaust and ESC systems will be revised to deliver yet more response, while the chassis and suspension will also be “between 15 and 20 percent” stiffer on the Sport. The brakes remain the same because of the slight reduction in weight.

The Alpine A110 Sport is expected to carry around a 10 to 15 percent premium over the standard model, so it'll be roughly £49,995 when it goes on sale in the UK next year.
considering that Alpine is already close to signing off on the car, the Sport version could appear as early as halfway through 2018. Keep watching this space!
