FERRARI PLANS FOR THEIR SUV TO BE THE FASTEST!

Once again, Sergio Marchionne, CEO at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has said Ferrari is planning to build an SUV, possibly by 2019, and claimed it'll be the fastest vehicle of it's kind.

Describing it as an "FUV" (Ferrari Utility Vehicle) to AutoExpress at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Marchionne said that the vehicle will “look like whatever a Ferrari utility vehicle needs to look like," but insisted that the end product “has to drive like a Ferrari”.

The Ferrari boss admitted that “there would be enough people even outside Ferrari who would go for me if I did ‘just a utility vehicle’.”

Asked by Auto Express if he aimed to build the fastest SUV in the world, Marchionne responded: “So far the fastest SUV belongs to Alfa [the Stelvio Quadrifoglio] and I don’t think Ferrari fears Alfa”. “It will do its best to build the fastest SUV.”

It was reported last year that Ferrari were working on a project called F16X, a high-riding crossover being developed alongside the next-generation GTC4Lusso. Not too long afterwards, Marchionne said that he was “dead serious” about adding the SUV to Ferrari’s stable.

Ferrari won't be the first to market as Lamborghini's launched the Urus, Rolls-Royce is nearing production of the Cullinan and the Maserati Levante is already on the road, but it sure does make the prospect of an SUV shootout quite enticing!
