VIDEO: 2019 FORD MUSTANG BULLITT REVEALED!

To honour the 50th anniversary of the legendary film Bullitt starring Steve McQueen, Ford showcased their special-edition Mustang at this years' North American International Auto Show.

This isn't the first time they've offered a Bullitt-branded special edition, two previous versions made appearances in 2001 and then 2008/2009.

Paying homage to the original 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT fastback that starred in the movie, Ford has taken the 2018 Mustang GT Premium and fitted their Performance package, which includes upgrades such as Brembo six-piston front brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a larger rear anti-roll bar, and a bigger radiator.

The reason for the extra cooling is that the 5.0l V8 engine has also been equipped with the Shelby GT350's intake manifold in addition to 87-millimetre throttle bodies, as well as a recalibrated powertrain control module.

What this all means is that Ford's Dark Highland Green pony pushes out at least 475 horsepower, around 15 more than the standard Mustang GT, resulting in a top speed, 8 mph faster than the GT, of 163 mph. Torque remains a lofty 420 lb-ft, while the only option available for the transmission is a six-speed manual.

Ford has taken many other cues from the original movie car by stripping off almost all the 2019 cars' exterior badging. Only a single trunk-mounted badge, mimics the design of a fuel-filler cap, indicates this model’s connection to the original. Also, the chroming has been toned down a whole lot, with just a sprinkling around its badgeless, black mesh grille, and its window line. Even the exhaust tips are de-chromed, painted black and made flush with the bodywork.
Red brake callipers peek through the large, chrome-trimmed black 19-inch wheels to complete the car’s look.
Only two paint colours will be available, although we have no idea who would order it in Shadow Black over the traditional Highland Green.

Climb aboard and you're welcomed with a leather-lined interior complimented with model-specific green stitching, as well as a white cue-ball gear lever. A special “welcome” graphic within the car’s 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster completed the look.

There are only a few options available but probably worth including on your order sheet are an adaptive suspension, gorgeous Recaro seats, and an electronics package that adds navigation, memory seating, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

No official price has been released for the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt but speculations expects it to be at the $50 000 mark.

We reckon it's totally worth it! Expect sales from midyear.
