BIG, BRASH, BRUTAL AND WIDE! GODZILLA IS HERE!

When average just doesn't cut it, it's time to do the Liberty Walk.

When people coin the phrase "taking liberties", it's usually associated with simply taking action, without permission or thinking how it will affect some other party, whether it'll be good or bad being kind of irrelevant. This is exactly why Liberty Walk is so true to their name.

Since coming out on the market, they've taken the liberty, excuse the pun, of turning the automotive customising industry on it's side, no wait, actually flipping it over on it's back, and whether you like it or not, you would've definitely taken notice of them over the past few years, as they are definitely a radical company, yes in the crazy meaning of the word, but in this instance crazy is good!

What Liberty Walk is all about is taking the normal, in this case, very expensive sports and supercars, like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs and of course Nissan GT-Rs and simply cutting them up, like they're nothing more than a cheap runaround, which in turn transforms them into some of the wildest things you'll ever lay your eyes on.

What's of most interest to us in this article of course is the GT-R. This brash beast you see in these pictures started life out as a brand new 2015 Nissan GT-R, which in stock form is already one of the best modern sportcars on the market, with it being quite practical as a everyday car, as well as being able to give most supercars out there a really tough time whenever it feels like it.

The car was bought new, as said previously, then it was shipped to RACE! in Kyalami, South Africa, where it was to undergo a full custom build, and with it being in their capable hands, it was always destined to emerge a masterpiece of glorious carporn. The car took a few weeks to complete and received some of the most amazing upgrades money can buy.

Firstly no matter how fast your GT-R is, it can always be faster, so this Godzilla got leveled up by adding a HKS power upgrade kit onto it's twin turbo V6 powerplant, as well as a serious Armytrix Racing Titanium Valvetronic Exhaust that lets out a symphony of sounds on demand, pleasuring your eardrums on every touch of the loud pedal. To aid cooling and add to the exaggerated look of the car, a twin front intercooler was installed as well, with a custom logo in black.

With the engine sorted, attention was turned to the suspension. When fitting a Liberty Walk kit to your car, the stance is one of the key elements to pull off the exact look you want, so the stock suspension was chucked in favour of a full air-ride system, courtesy of Airrex. Airrex makes a kit produced specifically for the R35 GT-R, consisting of everything you need to get your GT-R laying frame with ease, even a wireless control unit, so you can adjust the ride height on demand. The compressor, air tank and other air accessories are all neatly tucked away in the boot, with a custom made carpeted enclosure, complete with clear perspex window, so you can admire all the fancy inner workings in plain sight.

The next part is the most extreme upgrade to the car and that is the actual Liberty Walk bodykit, which involves a helluva lot of hard work and if you do things the way these does them, it means even more intense work, as they don't do something unless they do it to perfection.

The first part of the process is cutting the front and rear fenders, yes you heard right, CUTTING brand new, shiny, perfect fenders is what's needed to make this kit fit. Can you say ballsy? All of this cutting needs to be done with intense precision and then once that's done, you need to make all the cutting work smooth and seal the fenders off so that you won't have any rust or other related issues in the future. While that was being done, the new kit was being expertly matched and painted to match the car's factory paintjob. Fitment was the next challenge as most of the Liberty Walk kits are fitted with quite a rough finish, but the shop wanted the kit to have a "factory type" fitment, so some extra work was carried out to make sure the kit was perfectly mated to the bodywork, with no ugly gaps or misalignment issues to be seen anywhere on the car. The front bumper received some custom touches as well, with custom struts and canards, and custom fitted DRLS added to it, courtesy of RACE!, to just give it that extra touch and make it stand out from the rest of the Liberty Walk kitted GT-Rs out there. Usually the kit comes with a massive rear wing, but the guys opted out of taking that and instead went more under the radar, fitting a carbon fiber ducktail rear spoiler, that goes perfectly with the side mirrors which were also replaced with carbon fiber items. Lastly a Seibon DS-style carbon fiber hood was fitted to the car and then subsequently colour matched to the rest of the car.

With the exterior almost perfect, it just needed some final touches to make it tip the scales and one of these were the 20×11 front and 20×12 rear Forgiato Maglia-ECL wheels in a matte black finish, with exposed screws, wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 semi-slick tyres with white writing on the sidewalls. These wheels and tyres are a perfect fit for the car and when you slam that Airrex suspension on the ground, the fronts and rears tuck perfectly under those insane overfenders. No Liberty Walk creation is complete without a whole bunch of stickers, so all the neccesary insignia was applied on the car along with the famous door sticker that Liberty is known for all over the world, "imagine all the people living life in peace'.

When we said this was a complete build, we really meant it, as even the interior of the car wasn't left untouched, with a whole bunch of interior pieces being replaced with glorious CARBON FIBER!

This is truly a world-class build carried out by RACE! and with it being the first one to be done in South Africa it's really a special build. All we have left to say is the owner of this Japanese masterpiece is one lucky guy and whoever said money can't buy you happiness, has obviously not seen one of these up close!
