COULD MERCEDES STEAL MAX VERSTAPPEN FROM RED BULL?

With Max Verstappen being one of the most promising Formula 1 driver of modern times, could Mercedes possibly make an offer to Max Verstappen that will convince him to leave Red Bull?

According to Max Verstappens' contract with Red Bull, Max is free to leave at any time... on condition that Red Bull doesn't provide a good enough car for his position. This leaves Red Bull in a rather nail-biting place, especially with them gambling on Honda with their brand new – and rather unproven – engines. Yet, both Verstappen and Red Bull team principle, Christian Horner, have high hopes and utmost confidence in the new car.

Mercedes, on the other hand, has given Lewis Hamilton a 1-year contract renewal for 2021. If Lewis should decide to hang up his racing boots at the end of this season, it is likely that Mercedes will be after Max Verstappen. Only, this time, not as the opposition.

Horner had this to say about the situation: "I am sure that, should Lewis Hamilton decide to stop, then Max Verstappen will naturally be the driver at the top of Mercedes' list. They also have George Russel and other drivers available to them."
