LEXUS UNVEILS BONKERS RC F TRACK EDITION
Good news as Lexus unveils the RC F Track Edition which, they say, blends luxury and serious performance.
What makes the Track Edition different to the RC F it's based on is the 352 kW and 535 Nm pumping out from its naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine. All that power is delivered to the rear wheels via a revised 8-speed automatic gearbox. It's also got launch control which helps it from 0-100 kph in a rather brisk 3.96 seconds.
Helping the RC F Track Edition achieve those figures, Lexus has shed up to 80kg from the standard car by replacing some of the heavier bits with carbon fibre, like the roof and bonnet. There are changes to the aesthetics too, including a diffuser and fixed rear wing – which helps with aerodynamics, and the suspension has been upgraded for a more engaging drive.
Sitting behind the new alloys and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber sit Brembo carbon ceramic brakes that bring the whole thing to a halt without fade.
Lexus has said production of the RC F Track Edition will commence in the second quarter of 2019 while, excitingly, Toyota SA has confirmed we'll be seeing them on our roads before years end.
