NEW MERCEDES-AMG GT4 REPORTS FOR DUTY
Mercedes has officially revealed the AMG GT4, the latest member of the company's customer racing programme, at the 24-Hour race of Spa-Francorchamps.
The new race car is based on the AMG GT-R road car and it aims to compete in the growing GT4 category. The power comes from the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 which in this case has been tuned to offer up to 510 horsepower and over 442lb-ft (600Nm) of torque. Strapped to it is a transaxle six-speed sequential competition gearbox, with the differential being adjustable from the outside.
The bodywork of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is made out of a mix of aluminium and carbon fibre, with the structure being a lightweight and very rigid aluminium space frame straight from the AMG GT-R.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT4 race car is priced at €198,850 (excluding VAT) and aims to compete across the globe in series like the IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge and the Pirelli World Challenge in the US, the Blancpain GT Series Asia in Asia, the Australian GT Trophy in Australia and the VLN endurance racing championship and the Nürburgring 24-hours in Germany.
If the GTR around the Nurburgring is anything to go by (check out the video below), then this GT4 is going to be incredible!
