RENAULT CLIO R.S. SPECIAL EDITION TO COST FROM £24,295

A new special edition Renault Clio R.S. is confirmed to hit the showroom in a few months and will arguably be one of the worlds hottest little hatchbacks this year. Only Fifteen are going to the UK after all – as confirmed by the French marque – with no word on the rest of the world's markets as yet, but these limited editions are going to be sold out very quickly and will, without a doubt, be a serious collector's item.

Renault has announced its limited edition Clio R.S.18 will cost from £24,295 in the UK. Based on the RS 220 Trophy, it’s marked out by a deep black colour scheme and liquid yellow flecks, which is a nod to this year’s Renault Formula 1 racer. The R.S. logo and rear diffuser are all finished in black, with yellow detailing on the front blade and wheels and it is looking hot!

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Alcantara and leather, while numbered kick plates and R.S. branding can be found on the doorsills and steering wheel.

It’s powered by a 220bhp 1.6-litre engine, which is carried over from the Trophy model and twinned with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox which is a step up from its past gearbox options. Renault says it’s capable of 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds and will hit a top speed of 235km/h.

Larger brake discs have been carried over from the standard Clio RS, but trust Renault to never shy on the brakes fitted to their R.S. models – yes, they are Brembo's – and on top of all that, braking performance has been improved by up to five percent. Launch Control, Hydraulic Compression Control and ‘rally-bred’ damper technology also feature along with an Akrapovic sports exhaust system.

The R.S.18 will be available through a network of Renault Sport Specialist dealerships, and first deliveries are expected in mid-June of this year.

This exclusive version of the Clio R.S. shares similarities to that of the old Megane F1, in which it sports utmost exclusivity, and is packed with only the best of the best finishes and performance parts. Renault, after all, is known for having some of the best chassis and suspension setups manufacturers have to offer. If you're in the market for an affordable road legal track car, this is without a doubt, a reasonable option to consider... and you'll most definitely not be disappointed!
