THE MOST BONKERS ASTON MARTIN EVER, THE 1 OF 1 V8 SUPER CYGNET, CAN NOW BE YOURS
In the world of high-performance motoring, there are loads of unique creations that defy convention, some are more weird and pointless than others, but the Aston Martin V8 Super Cygnet is one of the more bonkers out there. If you’ve never heard of it, we don’t blame you because of its one-off status. It's a pint-sized powerhouse that mixes supercar performance with compact city car dimensions. Originally conceived as a one-off engineering marvel, this extreme reimagination of the Aston Martin Cygnet is now available for purchase, marking the first time it has been offered for sale since its delivery to its original client. Born from the minds at Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin – the same chaps who fit guns and weird tech to James Bond’s cars, the Super Cygnet is a masterclass in creativity and engineering ingenuity. Over 10 months, Aston Martin’s engineers transformed a teeny Cygnet into a mind-blowing V8-powered beast, completing it for road use in 2018. Making its first public appearance at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Super Cygnet impressed audiences as it rocketed up the hill climb, proving that big things can indeed come in small packages. Under the hood - if you can even call it that - lives a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 engine borrowed from the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S. This powerhouse produces 316 kW and is paired with a 7-speed paddle-shift transmission, sending all that fury to the rear wheels. The extensive reengineering involved integrating front and rear subframe assemblies from the Vantage S, along with its suspension and ABS braking system, into the Cygnet’s diminutive frame. With a curb weight of just 1,375 kg (including fluids), the Super Cygnet has an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 230 kW per tonne. The result is a stupidly-quick 0-60 mph sprint in just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 274 km/h - that’s supercar stuff.
Every aspect of the Super Cygnet screams exclusivity. Finished in a striking Buckinghamshire Green, the car’s interior is adorned with bespoke black Alcantara, carbon fiber accents, and a full safety roll cage for added structural integrity. The cockpit features Recaro seating, a carbon fiber dashboard, and Vantage instrumentation, blending race-inspired functionality with premium materials. Beyond the aesthetics, the car is fully road-legal and equipped with modern comforts such as refrigerated climate control. While it may be built for thrills, it’s just as capable of navigating city streets as it is tackling high-speed runs. The Super Cygnet isn’t just a showpiece - it’s a fully functional and incredibly capable machine. Triple Le Mans 24-hour class winner Darren Turner pushed it to over 250 km/h at Bruntingthorpe’s runway before running out of tarmac, while esteemed motoring journalist Henry Catchpole called it “just hilarious… it’s brilliant” after a spirited drive. Now available for purchase, this one-off Aston Martin masterpiece has covered just over 4,600 km since its debut - which means it works pretty well. Meticulously maintained by Aston Martin engineers and professionally stored when not in use, it remains in near-new condition. The car comes with full documentation, a bespoke fitted car cover, and a distinctive model-specific registration number. For those with lots of F-you money, this freaking cool little one-of-a-kind mishmash of engineering audacity and over the top performance, the Aston Martin V8 Super Cygnet is sitting on the amazing showroom floor at Nicholas Mee & Co in Hertfordshire, UK, one seriously upmarket dealership. As to how much you can expect to pay, it’s one of those POA affairs but speculation on the interwebz says it should be in the region of around £500,000, or a cool R11,650,000, give or take a few hundred grand.
