THE NEW CHEVY SILVERADO EV ZR2 RACE TRUCK CONCEPT IS THE 800+ KW BEAST WE NEED.
The Chevy Silverado name has been synonymous with power, durability, and performance since its debut in 1999. However, the Silverado’s roots go even deeper - it was the successor to the Chevrolet C/K series, which had been Chevy’s go-to full-size pickup since the 1960s. Over the past 25 years, the Silverado has evolved through four generations, with dozens of variants tailored for everything from heavy-duty work to off-road adventure. It quickly became one of America’s best-selling trucks, consistently ranking as the second-best-selling pickup in the U.S., only behind the Ford F-Series. The introduction of the ZR2 trim in recent years pushed the Silverado even further, giving off-road enthusiasts a factory-built performance truck ready for extreme conditions. Now, with the Silverado EV, Chevy is ushering in a new era of electric truck capability - without sacrificing the toughness that made the Silverado a legend. And now, Chevrolet has taken its off-road dominance to the next level with the reveal of the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the legendary Mint 400. This all-electric beast isn’t just for show - it’s set to compete in one of the toughest off-road races in the world, piloted by Chad Hall as part of the Hall Racing team. It joins a proven lineup that includes the Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race trucks. “There is no better proving ground to test the limits of our vehicles than competitive racing,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which uses 98% GM production parts, showcases some of the best of Chevrolet to produce a beyond-capable pickup to tackle a challenging race of the Mint 400’s magnitude.” While still a concept, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck stays true to Chevy’s ZR2 DNA, packing serious off-road hardware:
✅ Lifted suspension with off-road tuning for superior performance on rough terrain
✅ Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers offering 13+ inches of front and rear wheel travel
✅ Locking differentials for maximum traction in extreme conditions
✅ Underbody skid plates for added protection against rocky terrain
