THE WORLDS GREATEST DRAG RACE! ERR... NO 7
Time for a bit of fun! The guys over at the Motor Trend Channel (MTC) on YouTube have brought us another enthralling episode of The World's Greatest Drag Race.
The 12 contenders all featured in their 2017 Best Driver's Car competition and are a Motley Crue of sports and supercars. Their aim? To face off over a quarter-mile to see who bags all the glory.
So, one sunny day in California at the 30th Space Wing of the Vandenberg Air Force Base, Johnny and friends from MTC line up all the cabbies and unleash them on 15,000ft (that's 4,572 metres) of air-strip.
The cars, in no particular order, are the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Aston Martin DB11, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Ferrari 488 GTB, Lexus LC500, McLaren 570GT Mercedes Benz AMG GTR, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 718 Cayman S, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Tesla Model S P100D.
It doesn't seem like a fair fight, putting a Lexus up against a Ferrari, but it's always interesting to see the performance difference of each class in a straight up fight.
And how does it all pan out? Well, let's just say it's telling that they're racing at an airforce base that launches and lands rockets... In the end, there are only 2,5 seconds between first and last place, 10.5s VS 13 seconds. That's pretty impressive in its own right!
