VIDEO: HISTORIC F1 CAR DROPPED BY CRANE ON MONACO TRACK, CAUSES CHAOS AT VINTAGE GP

A safety crew has dropped a historic F1 car from a crane during a chaotic vintage Monaco Grand Prix last week.

With the safety car out and drivers under yellow during the historic race last week, marshals tried to unsuccessfully hoist the McLaren M23 from the track, with the car crashing back down on the track.

The unfortunate slip nearly led to disaster with the field racing around the infamous street track and flying towards the stricken McLaren.

Marshals were able to wave the red flag and drivers slowed to make their way around the car safely.

The confusion did lead to another accident, with the safety car re-entering the track and a Tyrell running into the back of an Avon which had slowed down too quickly.

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries during the race involving historic F1 cars from 1973 to 1976.
