VIDEO: THE FARADAY FUTURE FFZERO1 IS A 1000HP LUDICROUS ELECTRIC VEHICLE.
Nope, this isn’t the next Batmobile or a futurustic cop car. It’s actually the Faraday Future FFZero1, and it’s a quick electric vehicle. Maddeningly, stupidly, Tesla annihilate-ingly quick. Thanks to four electric motors, it’s good for over 1000bhp, enough for a 0-60mph time of under three seconds and a top speed of 200mph.
All sounds pretty exciting, but FFZero1 - revealed at CES - is more of a showcase than a preview of a production car, and what it’s showcasing is the chassis. Faraday Future - a Californian start-up backed by Chinese investors - calls it the ‘Variable Platform Architecture (VPA)’, a flexible system that will allow it to create a variety of different sized vehicles.Anything up to four motors can be installed, meaning both two and four-wheel drive layouts are possible. The wheelbase and crumple zones can be stretched and more batteries added to increase range, but the front and rear wheel units don’t change, meaning it’ll be much simpler and cheaper for Faraday Future to produce a wide range of vehicles, something it wants to do in around two years.
