XIAOMI SU7 ULTRA STORMS INTO GRAN TURISMO 7, MAKING HISTORY FOR CHINA ON THE VIRTUAL TRACK

Having a car feature in Gran Turismo has always been a bit of a velvet rope affair. Carefully curated. Ruthlessly selective. And now, for the first time in its long, petrol-soaked history, a Chinese car is stepping onto that hallowed digital tarmac. Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital announced that the SU7 Ultra made its Gran Turismo debut in Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as part of Update 1.67, which landed on January 29. The SU7 Ultra becomes Xiaomi’s first entry into the Gran Turismo universe and the first Chinese-built vehicle ever to be included in the franchise. For a series famous for obsessing over authenticity, feel and mechanical credibility, that’s a big deal.

The partnership between Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital was first announced in June 2025, and it quickly became clear this wasn’t a box-ticking exercise. Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi personally test-drove the SU7 Ultra at locations including Beijing, the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Tsukuba Circuit, spending time with Xiaomi EV’s engineers to understand exactly what makes the car tick. To translate that experience into the virtual world, Xiaomi’s vehicle dynamics team travelled to Polyphony Digital’s studio in Fukuoka, working directly with the developers during final validation. The goal was simple and uncompromising: ensure the digital SU7 Ultra behaves exactly like the real thing, right down to its chassis balance, power delivery and high-speed stability.

Under the skin, the numbers are properly wild. The SU7 Ultra uses Xiaomi’s in-house developed Hyper Tri-Motor system, combining dual V8s motors with a V6s motor for a combined output of 1,548 hp (1,154 kW)  and 1,770 Nm of torque. Power is delivered via an 800V high-voltage architecture, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 1.98 seconds, without one-foot rollout. Chassis hardware is equally serious. A double-wishbone front suspension, five-link rear layout, dual-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers are all tuned to deliver razor-sharp handling without sacrificing ride comfort. Despite the performance focus, the SU7 Ultra still manages a CLTC range of up to 630 km and can charge from 10 to 80 % in just 11 minutes.

Its real-world credentials were firmly cemented on April 1, 2025, when the production SU7 Ultra, fitted with the optional Track Package, tackled the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The result was a staggering 7:04.957 lap time, officially making it the fastest electric executive vehicle ever around the Green Hell. Torque vectoring, advanced aerodynamics and a relentless focus on track performance all played a role in that record-breaking run. Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun has previously expressed his excitement about the car’s inclusion in Gran Turismo 7, highlighting the opportunity for players and car enthusiasts alike to experience the brand’s vision of high-performance intelligent vehicles, both virtually and in the real world.

The SU7 Ultra has already made appearances across Europe and Asia, including Spain, Singapore, Japan and Berlin, earning praise from industry professionals and enthusiasts. Its arrival in Gran Turismo 7 now places it alongside some of the most revered performance machines ever created. To mark the occasion, Polyphony Digital will host a two-week official time trial at Monza, exclusively featuring the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Expect lap times to tumble, leaderboards to get spicy and more than a few raised eyebrows as players discover just how quick Xiaomi’s electric flagship really is.
