RAM 1500 BACKCOUNTRY X CONCEPT DEBUTS AT SEMA 2022

The third creation from the iconic Mopar brand that will be on display at this year’s 2022 SEMA show is yet another brilliant concept truck in the form of the Ram 1500 Backcountry X Concept. It’s a pretty good way to end off the SEMA onslaught as well as the brands 85th anniversary celebrations. The other two concepts that were revealed includes the Jeep CJ Surge that shows how modern powerplants can be incorporated into classic previously ICE-powered setups, and the monstrous Ram 1500 TRX Gold Shot that’s aimed at motorcross enthusiasts who lust after more than 700 horsepower just because. This Backcountry X Concept is just as impressive, it’s the ultimate combination of workhouse and play thing that can be a mobile workshop or a mobile pit crew van when the need arises. As the name suggests, this oversized concept is based on the regular Ram 1500.

The main feature immediately evident is definitely that class-exclusive RamBox cargo management system that features a custom-designed RamPack with features that significantly increase secure storage space without compromising any functionality. The new storage compartments in the conceptual RamPack are found above the standard RamBox on each bed side accessible via carbon-fibre hatch panel. It has rectangular shelves running the length of the compartments that also feature handy tie-down loops. There’s even storage space inside the tailgate panel and a custom Mopar RamGate task-bench that also has various conversion charts and an angle finder coupled with an array of Rockler woodworking hardware - as said, a great shop truck. This concept for storage sees an increase of a massive 68% in storage space. The truck also features a custom RamRack telescoping storage-rack system that also uses extra Thule cross rails above the bed for mounting even more gear and accessories. The same RamRack sees the addition of 2-inch TYRI LED lights facing forwards while a Centre High Mount Stop Light sees a third brake light fitted to the rear crossbar. The Mopar tubular grille guard up front features four Mopar 5-inch LED off-road lights, to add to the already sun-like lumen count.

The exterior looks great with the black Mopar tube steps located on both side rails as well as the Mopar rear bed step. To make it stand out (more than usual) the Ram 1500 Backcountry X concept rolls higher with a Mopar 2-inch lift kit and FOX shocks and is fitted with 20-inch matte-black Fuel Heater wheels wrapped in large 37-inch BFGoodrich tyres. The paintwork is two-tone Matte Iced Silver Titanium with matte-black while the body side stripes and accents on the hood, tow hooks and grille badge are all found anodised in orange. It’s the same with the cabin theme but with added green on the front and rear bucket seats. The front seats feature embroidered Backcountry X and Mopar logos.
