THE 1600 HP KOENIGSEGG JESKO REACHES PRE-PRODUCTION

When it comes to the world of the hypercar, one of the world’s favourite brands is that of the Swedish outfit Koenigsegg. While larger automakers do their thing with budgets equalling the GDP of some small countries, the Koenigsegg company is a small, independent concern that’s run by a man who is clearly a genius. Christian von Koenigsegg has a brilliant mind, evident in the way that he’s managed to basically reinvent the wheel, or at least many other automotive components. When some independent companies start to manufacture their own line of engines they follow the tried and tested methods using the same valvetrains and such, but with their own twist. At Koenigsegg these kinds of things have been replaced with their own new technology like the Free Valve that eliminates the need for camshafts, which when all bolted together makes for ridiculously powerful and responsive engines.

One of the hypercars that’s been in the works at Koenigsegg is the Jesko Absolut. While that last part sounds like a vodka, it just means the best, and the Jesko part is actually Christian’s dad’s name. How cool to name a hypercar after your father! The development has taken longer than expected, but to be fair it’s no fault of the Koenigsegg crew, no one could have planned for this worldwide pandemic and the accompanying supply chain issues. We’ve seen a few tests of the car on a few YouTuber channels, and the big boss himself has been in a few videos explaining some Jesko things during the car’s development. Well, now the completed pre-production car is here and working, and it’s the best example to date of the finished $3 000 000 car. "The name Absolut comes from the fact that this is the absolute fastest Koenigsegg we will ever make,” says CEO and Founder Christian von Koenigsegg.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut uses a few things from the equally amazing Agera RS, most importantly that very same in-house developed 5.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 powerplant that’s capable of producing 947 hp, but the changes to the setup have seen the power available rise to an amazing 1281 hp on pump fuel. When the ridiculously powerful motor gets fed a clean supply of E85 biofuel, that power figure rises to an almost unbelievable 1600 hp. That alone tells you the car is going to break some speed and performance records. Having the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut’s double-boosted V8 coupled to the company’s lightning fast 9-speed Lightspeed Transmission means we should see the car reach 300 mph in a matter of seconds. That’s not the top speed though, this car is aiming higher, in fact it’s aiming to be the highest.

The pre-production Jesko Attack that was first seen in the middle of 2021 now has a friend to play with at the Koenigsegg test facility in the form of this stunning new, completed, factory test car - the Graphite Grey Jesko Absolut, complete with Tang Orange stripes making it an all-time fav for this SXdrv writer! Hot damn! “The Absolut feels very natural to drive. Because of its seamless shifting, whether up or down, everything just happens much faster. There are no delays, it is very responsive and behaves exactly the way you would want it to,” comments Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh.

“We spent thousands of hours in CFD calculations. We’ve streamlined this car from not just an aerodynamic and design perspective, but also from a high-speed stability perspective. As a result, the Jesko Absolut has a phenomenally low drag of only 0.278 Cd.” says CEO and Founder Christian von Koenigsegg. This new Graphite Grey Jesko Absolut now has the title of ‘Official factory testing vehicle’, and will be leading the development program for the Jesko Absolut.
