ALFA ROMEO'S TONALE SUV HAS HAD A BIT OF A REFRESH AND IT LOOKS FANTASTICO!
Alfa Romeo has peeled back the cover on the New Tonale, marking a new chapter in the brand’s C-SUV journey - and yes, it’s now even more Italian, even more Alfa. The refreshed Tonale introduces new colours, trims, and finely tuned details aimed squarely at amplifying its sporty essence and timeless design flair. Already an award-winner and a crowd favourite, the Tonale now doubles down on the traits that make Alfa Romeo... well, Alfa Romeo: perfect weight balance, first-class handling, and segment-leading technology wrapped in irresistible style. The first thing you’ll notice is the fresh face. The new three-dimensional concave badge, inspired by icons like the 33 Stradale and GT 2000, gives the Tonale a stronger visual identity. The legendary Trilobe grille has been reinterpreted to emphasise width and stance, while lower air intakes nod to the smaller Alfa Romeo Junior, tying the family DNA together. Extra side openings channel the racing language of the Giulia GTA and GTAm, and the shortened front overhang and wider track give the Tonale a sharper, more planted look. New 19-inch Stile wheels and lightweight 20-inch Fori alloys balance heritage and modernity. Completing the look are black-and-white Alfa Romeo emblems, introduced with the Junior, and black Tonale lettering on the Veloce and Sport Speciale trims - subtle, classy, and unapologetically Italian.
Step inside and it’s clear Alfa hasn’t just refreshed the cabin - they’ve elevated it. The interior now features new combinations of materials and finishes, from the stunning red leather “cannelloni” seats with matching stitching to the two-tone black-and-white Alcantara setup with a coordinating Alcantara dashboard. Every surface feels considered: contrasting stitches run across the dash, doors, and armrest, varying depending on seat type. Comfort takes centre stage with eight-way electrically adjustable front seats featuring four-way lumbar support, heating, and ventilation. Even the steering wheel and washer nozzles are heated, because Italian performance doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort. The new rotary gear selector adds a touch of modern functionality, paired with iconic aluminium paddle shifters fixed to the column - the proper way. In the Sport Speciale Launch Edition, Alfa turns up the theatre: a multicoloured ambient light strip inspired by the scales of the Biscione serpent glows across the dashboard, blending heritage with a futuristic vibe. It’s art and sportiness in the same breath - performance meets passion, daily.
Every Alfa is built on one philosophy: mechanics first, electronics second. The New Tonale is no exception. Its dynamic character is defined by a perfectly balanced chassis, independent McPherson suspension with sporty tuning, and four-piston Brembo brakes. The 13.6:1 steering ratio gives it the sharpest turn-in in its class, while the Dual Stage Valve (DSV) electronic suspension and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorbers deliver that sweet balance between control and comfort. Add in brake-by-wire tech borrowed from the Giulia and Stelvio, and the optional Q4 all-wheel drive on plug-in hybrid models, and you’ve got a C-SUV that behaves like a proper Alfa - agile, alive, and unfiltered. The augmented wheel track reduces roll and understeer, while the refined Hybrid Control Processor ensures buttery-smooth transitions between electric and combustion power. The result is seamless performance, instant torque, and unbroken flow.
Powertrains - Choice, Italian-style
Tonale Ibrida (Hybrid): A bespoke 128 kW 1.5-litre turbo with variable-geometry turbocharger, 7-speed DCT, and front-wheel drive. It’s the latest evolution of Alfa’s 48V hybrid tech, offering zippy performance and urban efficiency.
Tonale Diesel: A 96 kW 1.6-litre with 6-speed DCT and FWD - ideal for long-distance drivers chasing frugality without dulling the drive.
Tonale Q4 Plug-In Hybrid: Available in 140 kW and 198.5 kW configurations with 6-speed auto and electrified AWD. This is the flagship - silent EV serenity when you want it, fire-breathing Alfa soul when you need it.
Launch Edition – The Tonale at its finest: The Sport Speciale Launch Edition is Alfa’s tribute to contemporary performance - all drama, all detail. Outside, silver side accents, gloss-black Brembo calipers, and white Alfa Romeo lettering set the tone. Inside, bespoke black-and-white Alcantara, contrast stitching, and Biscione-inspired ambient lighting make it feel more like a concept car than a crossover. It’s available in every colour of the new palette, with the option of a contrasting black roof for that perfect finishing touch.
