DUBAI POLICE WILL CATCH YOU, ESPECIALLY WITH A NEW LAMBORGHINI URUS PERFORMANTE IN THE FLEET.
Do not rev up your engines, folks! At the dazzling Dubai Airshow 2023, Paolo Sartori, the Regional Head of Automobili Lamborghini Middle East and Africa, pulled off a show-stopping handover. Major General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, the acting commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, is now the proud “owner” of the Lamborghini Urus Performante, the Italian automaker’s imposing Super SUV! Paolo Sartori expressed his thrill about this ongoing collaboration, saying, “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Dubai Police, supporting them in their crucial public safety mission. Following our delivery of an Urus to the force in 2022, this new Urus Performante edition will be used to carry out a range of public duties and, above all, will help enhance the city’s security and safety, with this initiative further demonstrating our brand’s longstanding presence here in the UAE.” Of course, things aren’t all as per the factory. A host of changes have been carried out on the Urus to make it more suitable for police work. Oddly, the powerplant and the underpinnings have been left in OEM form, but that does make some sense because this is a Lamborghini and it is already stupidly fast, especially for an SUV. The Urus employs the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8.
That twin-turbocharged V8 should be good for chasing down bad guys, as long as the policeman in the pilot seat knows how to throw the massive SUV around properly to make the best use of the all-wheel drive system. There’s a massive 478 kW of power on tap, with torque rated at a healthy 850 Nm. The big Italian SUV can get up to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, 200 km/h in 12 seconds and has a top speed of an impressive 306 km/h. It is one of the fastest SUVs on the planet right now. Customized for duty, the Urus Performante underwent a police makeover and so it's sporting a slick green and white livery with the iconic and necessary police logo, a blue 360° LED light bar and an electric siren, making sure it commands attention. Inside, Dubai's finest are treated to the essentials like a sleek armoured gun box, a fold-down message display, a special boot compartment for their gear, and a defibrillator for those superhero first-aid moments. General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani shared his excitement, “The high-performance Super SUV was added as part of Dubai Police’s efforts to increase the number of patrol officers across Dubai. The new Lamborghini Urus Performante will support Dubai police in their commitment to better serve residents, maintain social safety and security, and provide services in popular tourist destinations."
Take a look at the YouTube video from the chaps at DPCcars, it shows the continuation of the collab between the Dubai Police and Lamborghini Dubai as they send another Lamborghini out to battle crime. This time the Urus SUV joins the rest of the Italian fleet, and with the car's off-road capabilities it should be a lot more effective than the Huracans: Lamborghini Urus Performante Ready for Police Duty Chasing Bad Guys in Dubai | DPCcars
