ER... A CIVIC TYPE-R BAKKIE? YES, REALLY!

We think the specialist team from the product engineering department at Honda’s factory in Swindon had their punch spiked. We really do. The images in the gallery above reveal a Civic Type R bakkie concept called the ‘Project P’. The most ludicrous looking bakkie we've ever seen.

They chaps took a pre-production Type R and butchered everything aft of the B-pillar. There are no rear-doors or seats, just a flatbed with a rollbar and the rear wing. Wait... what? Yup, THAT rear wing remains although it is “movable to allow direct and unfettered access to the rear of the bakkie”.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 235kW and 400Nm remains, as does the six-speed manual transmission and the suspension with Comfort, Sport and +R modes. Honda reckons the Project P will do 0-100kph in under six seconds and continue on to ±270kph.

Although the Project P won't be making it into production, Honda has said that they may "take it to the ‘Ring and mount an assault on the lap record for the fastest front wheel drive bakkie”.

We didn't even know people did that.
