MAHINDRA'S GLOBAL PIK UP CONCEPT REVEALED IN CAPE TOWN. NOW WE WANT THE PRODUCTION VERSION.
We love seeing automotive brands bringing out cool new products, especially when they’re from the brands that are often overlooked in favour of the usual suspects. It was a great move previewing the latest concept from Mahindra here in Cape Town at the brand’s signature Futurescape event because if you can say anything about SA, it’s that it’s a bakkie-loving country through and through. The brand already does well in SA, but this here looks like a model that has the potential to sway the buying public away from the usual Ford, Toyota, VW and Isuzu products. The Global Pik Up is based on the new Gen Ladder Frame platform, and that means the possibility of a production version is that much more real. Its blend of versatility and capability is fortified by state-of-the-art technologies such as Level-2 ADAS, immersive infotainment, and more. The Global Pik Up has been designed as a versatile, robust, and stylish vehicle, suitable for a wide range of applications, just like any other bakkie, but it’s the package that everything is wrapped up in that we like. Those strong lines with a style all of its own are very nice to look at indeed, and the best part is that the bakkie’s lines don’t mimic anything else out there right now, as is usually seen with Chinese creations. The Global Pik Up aims to meet global safety standards using advanced safety technologies. The vehicle's convenience and driving experience is elevated through innovative technology features, and inside, the infotainment system and immersive audio can equal what the main players offer up, but undoubtedly at a much more affordable price point. The Global Pik Up will also feature Mahindra's intelligent 4Xplore 4-wheel drive system making it suitable for a plethora of uses.
