The future is here and it looks devastatingly sublime!
With epic swan-wing, not-conventional-at-all doors, a shark-nose grille, and a supercar stance, the i8 plug-in hybrid is a truly revolutionary vehicle. The interior seats four, apparently, but unless you are a tiny miniscule midget, don't get your hopes up for some backseat fun. A turbocharged three-cylinder engine teams with two electric motors for a combined 357 hp. not bad indeed. The i8 clocks 100km/h faster than an M3, getting it done in 4.4 seconds, thanks to that instant torque from the dual electric motors as well as it's 4WD drivetrain. Top speed is a traffic fine worthy 250km/h, while handling is agile and the steering is really sharp, with braking performance also being on par.
The i8 was designed and engineered in just 38 months, the fastest BMW project in living memory, with the smallest team of engineers, making the most complex car it’s ever created. They were a skunkworks of driven, empowered boffins, a fizzing nexus of creativity.
Quite a feat if you think about it and definitely destined to be one of BMW's greats, just like the epic M1 of the late 70's.
