THE 2026 MUSTANG RTR SPEC 5 IS THE MOST BADASS PONY YET WITH 649 KW ON TAP.
When Vaughn Gittin Jr. and RTR Vehicles say they’re Ready to Rock (that’s trademarked BTW), this is exactly what they mean. The 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5 isn’t another modified Mustang package; this is the most capable RTR to ever roll out of their lab, limited to just 50 units worldwide. Think of it as 15 years of design, motorsport experience, and engineering obsession distilled into one feral widebody V8 machine. At its core is Ford’s legendary 5.0-litre Coyote V8, force-fed by a Stage 2 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger to crank out more than 649 kW and 894 Nm of torque. An HD race intercooler keeps it cool under punishment, while the RTR by Borla Active Exhaust, tuned personally by Gittin, makes sure every stab of throttle sounds like a nuclear warhead going off in your driveway. Power goes through either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed auto - driver’s choice, but either way you’re strapped to a beast that’s built to thrill. RTR’s Spec 5 Widebody System for this package isn’t your bolt-on Temu kit. This is a fully integrated composite widebody package engineered to flow seamlessly with the Mustang’s lines. Every mounting point is hidden, every flare sculpted, every vent functional. The result looks factory, but meaner, sharper, and dripping with intent.
The kit comprises carbon composite front fenders, bumper extensions, rocker panels, rear quarters with tyre cooling vents, ducts, and felt liners. There’s also exposed carbon fibre for the chin splitter, wake tower assemblies, rocker splitters, and rear quarter splitters. The ‘Stang also gets a bespoke fuel door with billet arms, a laser-printed bucket and vertical over-centre motion, while retaining Ford’s push-to-open function. Exclusive to the Spec 5 is the Extended Speed Block Graphics Package, a blend of Formula Drift Spec 5-FD inspiration and hand-sketched pinstripe fades from RTR Creative Director Lindsay Ross. Add brushed exterior badging and carbon wake towers, and the thing looks every bit the motorsport-bred street animal it is.
The ‘Stang rolls on all-new RTR Aero 5 Evo Forged wheels; lightweight forged aluminium, available in Forged Charcoal, Podium Champagne, or Vapour Silver, with paint-matched centre caps. They come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber, of course. Behind those wheels sit Brembo 6-piston fronts and 4-piston rears, with upgraded 2-piece discs up front for fade-free stopping power. The RTR Tactical Performance Suspension System takes things further with 30-way adjustable coilovers and dampers, height-adjustable springs, and adjustable sway bars. The system is tuned for a razor-sharp but approachable balance - aggressive enough for track duty, yet refined enough for street confidence.
The aggression carries into the cabin with RTR-spec RECARO sport seats, trimmed in Cool Grey leather bolsters with black suede supports and ribbed inserts inspired by icons like the Ford GT. Details like a debossed RTR logo, bespoke performance shift knob, RTR mats, and a serialised dash plaque with Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s signature remind you this is something rare. Each car comes with a certificate of authenticity to seal the deal. And yes - the factory Electronic Drift Brake, co-developed by Ford and Gittin, is standard. It’s not just a gimmick; it’s a direct line to RTR’s motorsport DNA, letting drivers initiate slides with surgical precision.
At $159,999, including a base Mustang GT 401A Performance Pack (or around R2,800,000), the Spec 5 also brings a full customisation experience. Buyers can choose from RTR’s Extended Colour Palette or go wild with paint-to-sample options. RTR even provides renders and, in the case of custom colours, a physical speed shape to approve before final paint. It’s personalisation done the RTR way - immersive, precise, and properly special. Only 50 lucky owners will get to call one theirs.
