ARE THESE THE 5 BEST VINTAGE V8 MUSCLE CAR ENGINES?

It was the golden era of American muscle car motoring. Are these the 5 best V8 engines of the time?

The late 60s and early 70s was an incredible time for American motoring. The V8 powerplants of the time were powerful and reliable, which helped deliver us the golden era of muscle cars.

Manufacturers Buick, Pontiac, Ford, Chevrolet and Chrysler were at the top of their game and were happy to take advantage of low petrol prices. With many of the cars aimed at bringing track performance to the road, these companies delivered big- and small-block V8's with large displacements.

This was a wonderous time, and these engines are heavily sought after today still, not to mention the vehicles themselves into which these powerplants were installed. It was a combination of the oil crisis and high insurance premiums that eventually put an end to these terrific fossil fuel burners, but the golden age of muscle cars will live on in the hearts and garages of petrolheads the world over.
