AUDI DEVELOPS A ONE-OFF 6.36-METRE A8 LIMOUSINE.

Audi has increased its A8 model to a massive 6.36-metres, due to customer demand.

At the special request of a European customer, the premium brand has created the Audi A8 L extended, a built-to-order model measuring 6.36 metres in length, with an unladen weight of 2,418kg.

The one-off A8 version is powered by a 310bhp 3.0-litre TFSI engine developing, delivering up to 324.5 lb ft of torque. This power takes the extended saloon from 0-100kph in 7.1 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250kph. The model is also mated to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox.

The A8 L extended features six seats (all facing direction of travel) and the Audi Space Frame, which is made up almost entirely from aluminium, and has taken almost a year to develop. The six seats are upholstered in extra-supple Valcona leather, in the colour velvet beige. Rows two and three feature electrically adjustable individual seats. The third row has a continuous centre console, a Rear Seat Entertainment display and a cool box.

For the built-to-order version of the exceptionally long luxury saloon engineers extended the side sills and centre tunnel using extruded aluminium sections.

On the inside, a double rear bulkhead separates the passenger compartment from the luggage compartment, as well as sun blinds for each of the windows. The designers have also embedded a 2.40-metre glass panel in the roof skin to enhance the sense of spaciousness.
