AUDI SPORT OPENS IT’S SPECIAL VAULT: ICONIC LEMANS AND DTM PROTOTYPES NOW AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS

Audi Sport is rewriting the rulebook on motorsport exclusivity. For the first time in its storied history, the brand is making a limited number of legendary LMP1 and DTM prototypes available for purchase - fully drivable and restored to their former glory by the same engineers who once propelled them to victory. The newly established Audi Sport Racing Legends division is overseeing this unprecedented project, bringing factory-built race cars from the golden age of endurance and touring car racing into the hands of elite collectors. The unveiling took place on April 2 in Neuburg an der Donau, Audi Sport’s high-performance headquarters. But that’s just the beginning. These track icons will soon be showcased at three of the world’s most prestigious classic car events: the Jim Clark Revival at Hockenheim (May 9–11), Le Mans Classic (July 3–6), and the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 10–13). The first lucky owner will take delivery of their piece of motorsport history this summer.

“This is a dream come true for collectors and racing enthusiasts alike,” says Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “These aren’t just cars; they’re championship-winning machines, meticulously rebuilt using original parts and overseen by the very minds that engineered their success. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro and RS 5 DTM are among the fastest and most dominant race cars we’ve ever created, and now, a select few will have the privilege of owning and driving them.”

Each prototype is reconstructed with painstaking attention to detail, utilizing original chassis and reconditioned components from its era. Owners won’t just acquire a car; they’ll inherit a legacy, joining an ultra-exclusive club that taps into Audi Sport’s deep motorsport expertise. To ensure these legends remain in peak condition, Audi Sport Racing Legends provides ongoing technical support, including servicing, repairs, spare parts, and expert consultation from the engineers who originally designed them.

The first two models on offer come with extraordinary credentials. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro (Chassis 207) is the very chassis that carried Romain Dumas, Loïc Duval, and Marc Gené to victory at the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Spa-Francorchamps in 2012. It’s a piece of Le Mans-era hybrid dominance, representing Audi’s groundbreaking e-tron technology that conquered endurance racing. The Audi RS 5 DTM (Chassis 107) was driven by Timo Scheider. This car claimed a triumphant victory at the 2015 DTM season finale in Hockenheim, showcasing Audi’s relentless pursuit of touring car supremacy in the ultra-competitive Class 1 era. These aren’t just cars with race-winning heritage; they are technological marvels that defined their respective disciplines. Audi Sport’s legacy in motorsport is legendary - 13 Le Mans victories, dominant campaigns in the FIA WEC, and countless DTM titles have cemented its place in racing history. Audi Sport’s commitment to these machines doesn’t end once the keys are handed over. Owners will receive white-glove treatment, with Audi providing trackside support at events and comprehensive aftercare. From detailed technical inspections to sourcing original components, the Audi Sport Racing Legends program ensures that these machines remain as fearsome on track as they were in their heyday. This initiative represents an unprecedented opportunity for collectors to own a genuine factory-backed prototype from one of motorsport’s most dominant brands. Audi Sport has always been synonymous with innovation, precision, and performance - and now, for a select few, that heritage can become a tangible reality. For those with the means and the passion, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to secure a piece of racing history. The only question is: who will be the lucky few?
