THE NISSAN NAVARA PRO-4X WARRIOR (BY PREMCAR) HAS ARRIVED. WILL IT SWAY BAKKIE LOVERS?
The Nissan Navara has long been a staple of South Africa’s bakkie culture, but now, it’s stepping up its game. Meet the Navara PRO-4X Warrior – a no-compromise, battle-hardened version developed by Australian engineering specialists Premcar, purpose-built for Africa’s toughest conditions. More than just a tough badge, this Warrior packs serious upgrades to its suspension, chassis, and off-road tech, pushing it to the limit on rugged trails, dunes, and everything in between. It’s engineered to handle punishment, haul heavy loads, and still deliver daily comfort – because bakkies here aren’t just workhorses; they’re part of the lifestyle.
“South Africa’s love for bakkies is legendary, and the Navara has always stood tall in the segment,” says Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director for Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa (IMA). “With Premcar’s expertise, we’ve taken it up a notch. This is the toughest, most capable Navara yet, built for Africa’s harshest roads while staying refined enough for everyday driving.”
Under the hood, the Warrior is powered by a 2.5-litre DDTi high-output diesel, cranking out 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque. That’s some serious grunt, especially with peak torque kicking in at low RPM – ideal for towing, rock-crawling, and heavy-duty work. Matched to a 7-speed automatic transmission and an advanced 4WD system, this beast is ready to take on steep climbs, deep sand, and unpredictable terrain with ease. With an 80-litre fuel tank, it’s built for long-haul expeditions where refuelling isn’t always an option.
And the upgrades don’t stop there:
Suspension tuned for Africa – A lifted ride height, upgraded springs, and recalibrated dampers give better wheel articulation and control.
More ground clearance – Sitting at 232 mm (up from the standard PRO-4X’s 221 mm), the Warrior clears obstacles with ease.
Wider track = more stability – Designed to stay planted on rough terrain, sand dunes, and rocky trails.
Serious all-terrain tyres – LT 275/65/R17 MAXXIS RAZR rubber delivers better grip and durability off-road.
Upgraded rear suspension – Enhances load stability, so your cargo stays secure no matter the conditions.
The Navara PRO-4X Warrior isn’t just about power, it’s got some attitude going on. A blacked-out grille, door handles, wheels, and roof rack, along with red accents and the black-and-red Nissan badge, make it clear this isn’t your average Navara.
Inside, the rugged meets the refined:
Warrior-branded black seats with red contrast stitching.
8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
7-inch digital driver display for key vehicle info.
Dual-zone climate control – because even off-roaders like comfort.
Serious Safety & Smart Tech
Tough doesn’t mean reckless. The Warrior packs Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite, including:
Forward Collision Warning – Because sudden obstacles aren’t just on trails.
Lane Departure Warning & Blind Spot Monitoring – Keeps you in check on highways.
Intelligent Around-View Monitor with Off-Road Mode – A 360-degree view to navigate tight spots and rough terrain.
Hill Descent Control & Hill Start Assist – Conquer steep inclines and descents with confidence.
And for added peace of mind, Premcar matches Nissan’s 6-year/150,000 km warranty on all Warrior-specific enhancements.
The Warrior isn’t just a one-off – it’s part of Nissan’s broader push to dominate the off-road segment across Africa. With the Navara built in Rosslyn, South Africa, the brand is doubling down on local production and growing its footprint in new markets.
“We see massive potential in Africa, and the Navara plays a key role in our strategy,” says Jordi Vila, President of Nissan Africa. “From South Africa to Egypt, our focus is on delivering tough, reliable vehicles designed for the continent’s unique challenges.”
