DAVID VS GOLIATH - A.K.A THE SUZUKI JIMNY VS THE HUMMER H2 IN A DRAG RACE.

On a damp stretch of road in a forgotten corner of the UK, there stood two very different titans, ready themselves for battle. Well, one of them stood. The other was barely visible. Hummer H2 gleamed under the scorching British summer sun. It was a monstrous beast of a vehicle, towering over everything in its path. With the width of a small bus, tyres the size of oil barrels, and a thirst for fuel that rivalled a herd of camels, Hummer H2 knew no limits - except perhaps low bridges and, well, narrow parking spaces. Enter Suzuki Jimny. Or, rather, squeak… squeak. Suzuki Jimny rolled up like a cheeky kid sneaking into a grown-up party. Its boxy frame looked more like something you’d find on a toy shelf than in an actual battle, but don’t be fooled. This wasn’t just any Jimny. No, this was the latest-generation, feature-packed, ready-to-rumble Jimny. Jimny's engine purred softly, barely disturbing the dust under its tiny yet mighty wheels. It wasn’t going to win any horsepower contests, but the Jimny wasn't about brute strength. He was about agility, charm, and the undeniable law of physics: big things can sometimes fall hard. Hummer revved up with a growl that sent a few small birds fleeing in terror. “Puny Jimny,” Hummer rumbled. “What are you even doing here? This is my territory.” Jimny, unfazed by Hummer's towering arrogance, adjusted his mirrors and gave a tiny toot of his horn. "Oh, you know, just here to prove that bigger isn’t always better. Also, your mileage... daaamn.” Hummer's headlights flashed, angered by the shade thrown at its gas-guzzling habits. “Careful, little one. I’ve crushed Priuses bigger than you.” David’s headlights winked. “Priuses crush themselves, mate. But hey, if you want to dance, let's dance.”

The challenge was set. They'd face off on the smooth runway to beyond the horizon: the legendary Carwow proving ground where great content is made. This wasn't your regular on-road adventure - it was a flat stretch of land where vehicles go to prove their mettle in a heads-up drag race. No steep cliffs, no narrow paths, and no boulders that looked suspiciously like car-flatteners… it was perfect for this showdown. As they lined up at the start, the spectators (cameramen) gathered. Well, mostly squirrels and a few confused tourists who didn’t realize they were about to witness the most epic vehicular battle of the decade. With a deafening roar, Goliath shot forward like a metal rhino. The ground shook, and dust was sent flying as the H2 stormed up the runway, a rolling fortress that seemed unstoppable. Jimny followed suit. He revved like only a small-capacity Japanese engine can and rolled forward at a surprising pace, "It's not about how fast you go, just about going faster than the chap next to you. Hummer’s size became quite apparent, as did its weight. Jimny kicked off faster than expected, well faster than Hummer expected. In this David & Goliath-style battle, everyone (me) was rooting for the Jimny, but physics is physics. The Jimny is powered by a normally aspirated 1.5-litre 4-banger that can produce 75 kW with 130 Nm of torque and thanks to a proper transmission setup the power can be sent to the rear wheels only via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,135kg. The H2 is powered by a normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 that churns out 293 kW with a hefty 563 Nm of torque and it's sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic ‘box. This monster tips the scales at a monstrous 2,850 kg! Watch for the outcome!

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off what happens when you pity one of the largest 4x4 things up against one of the smallest. It's interesting, but we'd like to see the same cars pitted against each other on a technical 4x4 course. We'd also like to see this tappen with an SG Performance turbocharged Jimny from SA, for science: V8 Hummer v Suzuki Jimny: DRAG RACE | carwow
