HENNESSEY PERFORMANCE PUTS THE MUSTANG DARK HORSE INTO THE 10S.

Texas-based Hennessey Performance has to be one of the coolest and most American aftermarket tuners in existence. If you check out any of the cars they wave their modifying wand at, the end result is always the same - ridiculous amounts of power with mind-blowing performance. If there’s a modern muscle car out there that needs any sort of power upgrade, or even a visual makeover, the Hennessey crew will likely have a solution. The company is the epitome of that age-old saying: “Everything’s bigger in Texas” and it’s almost as if the crew at Hennessey Performance use it as a motto judging by the things coming out of their workshop west of Houston. We’re used to seeing creations with way more power than is necessary, which is just the way we like it here at SXdrv too, and the company’s plans to give the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse a better overall look and feel are on track. The company announced plans for the supercharged H850 upgrade package a while back, and they have been hard at work bringing this package to fruition. The company now has some cool stats to share that show exactly what the upgrade package does to the new dark horse. The H850 Mustang Dark Horse is in production at the company’s Sealy HQ and it’s at this spacious facility that Hennessey’s engineers have transformed the performance of America’s iconic sportscar, giving it a very healthy 70 % power upgrade which takes the car’s power up to a properly impressive 850 hp (634 kW) with torque rated at 884 Nm. That’s a decent power bump from the OEM 500 hp (373 kW) and 567 Nm. The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the performance version of the acclaimed S650 Mustang and it makes use of the company’s normally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5.0-litre V8, which is a perfect base to add the Hennessey high-performance supercharger kit accompanied by a high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, plus Hennessey’s rigorously developed engine management system.

In factory spec with the 10-speed auto ‘box, the Mustang Dark Horse can get to 60 mph from a standstill in as little as 3.7 seconds, which should be around 3.8 secoinds to get to 100 km/h. With Hennessey’s fiddling and supercharger fitted, the upgraded H850 Mustang can hit the same benchmark speed in just 3.2 seconds. The standard Dark Horse completes the quarter mile in 12 seconds at 190.54 km/h. But with this kit in play, the Hennessey H850 auto crosses the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 214 km/h. John Hennessey, company Founder, and CEO: “Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse builds on Ford’s commitment to provide automotive enthusiasts with passion products like the snarling V8-powered S650 Mustang. We’re excited to unleash Hennessey’s passion for performance on America’s most iconic muscle car with all the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations that get our blood pumping!” Hennessey’s enhancement to the stock Ford Mustang even eclipses the upcoming $300,000 Ford Mustang GTD – the street-legal race car that boasts 800 horsepower. In comparison, Hennessey’s upgrade to the Dark Horse delivers serious bang for buck alongside supercar-like performance and the glory of a supercharged V8 soundtrack. To complement its upgraded powerplant, Hennessey H850 Mustang owners can visually enhance their Dark Horse with optional Hennessey Heritage Graphics and forged performance wheels in gloss anthracite. Setting the Hennessey apart further, each model features Hennessey and H850 badging, Hennessey embroidered headrests, and a serial-numbered engine plaque. The H850 Mustang Dark Horse is available in automatic or with a 6-speed manual with both variants backed by Hennessey’s comprehensive 3-year / 36,000-mile limited warranty. Production of the new models is already underway at Hennessey’s Sealy, Texas HQ and interested buyers can find out more and place orders for global shipping through Hennessey directly at HennesseyPerformance.com. We’re not aware of a local Hennessey Performance agent, sadly.

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off the results of the work carried out on the Ford Mustang Dark Horse after it's been through the Hennessey Performance workshop to make it a beast of a thing - complete with warranty. The second video shows you the car proving its worth on a dyno - which is always interesting if you're a car fanatic: SUPERCHARGED DARK HORSE | H850 Dark Horse Mustang by Hennessey | Hennessey Performance
