HYUNDAI'S ELANTRA RECEIVES N TCR EDITION - WE'LL NEVER SEE IT THOUGH.

Hyundai Motor Company have been doing amazing things. Under the N brand, the motorsport side of Hyundai, the models released have been damn good cars, that goes for the petrol-powered cars and the EVs. The design language is great, the power on offer is great, and the performance compared to direct segment rivals is on another level. While I do like some electric offerings out there, the EV on the market that tickles my fancy the most isn’t one of the many hypercars or supercars, the Hyundai IONIQ N. On the ICE-powered front, the i30 N is the one I’d likely have in my garage, even though I’m a VW fan. The car is so good it can (and does) make people sway from the manufacturers they’ve supported for years. I do like smaller cars, and so if the i20 N was available, I’d have that. There is another model that does well for the brand, the Elantra, a nameplate launched way back in 1990 but was discontinued in SA a few years ago. The latest incarnation of the Elantra for the Korean market is the Elantra N, and it’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with direct injection that was specially developed for the range-topping N models. It produces 203 kW and 392 Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels via either a 6-speed manual transmission or a fast-shifting 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. It really is a pity this sedan version isn’t available in SA because it wouldn’t really have any segment competitors. VW canned the Jetta and the Polo sedan doesn’t have enough power to pull the skin off boiled milk. To keep the popularity up, there’s just been a further evolution of the Elantra in Korea.

Hyundai has unveiled the Elantra N TCR Edition, a high-performance version of the sedan designed to infuse everyday driving with the adrenaline of motorsports. Drawing from Hyundai’s dominance in the Touring Car Racing (TCR) World Tour since 2017, this limited-edition model brings cutting-edge race-inspired enhancements to the Elantra N lineup. The Elantra N TCR Edition benefits from Hyundai’s championship-winning expertise, featuring upgraded performance parts directly inspired by its motorsport success. Highlights include a lightweight Carbon Swan Neck Spoiler, which is adjustable for optimal downforce in various driving scenarios, and 19-inch N TCR forged wheels that combine rigidity and reduced weight. The sedan’s N Performance four-piston brakes deliver exceptional stopping power, underscoring its track-ready credentials. Inside, the motorsport DNA shines through with a race-inspired Alcantara steering wheel, complete with a Performance Blue top marker, matching seat belts, and exclusive TCR Edition badging. Exterior details include TCR Edition decals (available in South Korea) that further set it apart. “Hyundai Motor has incorporated the experience and expertise accumulated in motorsports into the Elantra N TCR Edition,” said Joon Park, Vice President of N Brand Management Group. “We will continue to enhance the DNA of Hyundai N, so that N-thusiasts can experience the thrill of motorsports in their daily lives.”
