MANHART MH3 800 TOURING: A PRACTICAL POWERHOUSE FOR THE FAMILY THAT LIKES TO FLY
When it comes to taking everyday cars and cranking everything up to 11, MANHART Performance is in a league of its own. Known for their bold, no-holds-barred, often over-the-top approach to tuning, the German powerhouse has a knack for turning already incredible cars into beastly performers. This time, their engineers have worked their magic on the latest halo car of the BMW 3-Series range, the already super-hot BMW M3 Touring from the G81 series, creating a machine that’s equal parts grocery-getter and track-ready weapon. Enter the MANHART MH3 800 Touring, a longroof with a serious wild side. Under the hood, MANHART has unleashed the full potential of BMW’s 3.0-litre S58 inline-6 engine that’s already made a name for itself as a highly tunable lump. Forget the factory numbers - this wagon now delivers a staggering 855 hp (638 kW) and a fat 1,090 Nm of torque. That’s enough grunt to embarrass most supercars, let alone anything you’d find parked at the school run. To make those numbers a reality, MANHART went deep under the skin. The engine benefits from forged pistons and conrods, a MANHART intercooler by Wagner Tuning, and a carbon intake. Exhaust gases are handled by a stainless steel exhaust system by REMUS, complete with valve control and MANHART downpipes featuring 200-cell catalytic converters. For those who love a full-on uncorked soundtrack, there are OPF delete pipes and Sport downpipes available - the latter isn’t TÜV approved, but that kind of thing makes no difference on our side of the pond.
To handle the power boost, the 8-speed automatic transmission (oddly it’s not the usual dual-clutch setup) has been upgraded to Stage 2 specs, allowing it to comfortably manage torque loads of up to 1,300 Nm. And for drivers who crave even more madness, MANHART offers optional Stage 2 and Stage 3 upgrades to push things further into the realm of insanity. With this much performance on tap, MANHART hasn’t skimped on handling, they know how important it is to be able to control power at these kinds of figures. The MH3 800 Touring sits on height-adjustable coilovers by H&R, while a carbon strut brace adds extra rigidity to the chassis. Braking duties are handled by the factory carbon-ceramic brakes, they’re pretty much perfect as is, if someone needs more braking capacity they need to rethink how they drive. While MANHART is known for their in-your-face aesthetics, the MH3 800 Touring opts for a more restrained approach - at least in terms of paintwork. The body is finished in a muted black, but accents of champagne-coloured trim and MANHART alloy wheels by Raffa (20 inches up front, 21 inches at the rear) add to the usual flair. To sharpen its aerodynamics and aesthetics, MANHART has added a full suite of carbon fibre body upgrades. The package includes a new front grille, splitter, and a two-piece apron, alongside side slats, skirts, and a boot spoiler. It’s aggressive without being over-the-top, making this the ultimate sleeper for the wealthy enthusiast. The interior doesn’t escape MANHART’s touch either. Highlights include a Sky Roof, adding an airy feel to the cabin, and bespoke floor mats with MANHART branding. It’s the little touches that remind you this isn’t your average M3 Touring. Much, much like.
Take a look at the YouTube video that details pretty much what you see in the pics, with a little bit of an overview from channel owner Thomas. We'd love to see some awesome video footage of this car in action, particularly the soundtrack. One day MANHART will surprise us with great video content to go with their mad builds: Manhart MH3 800 BMW M3 Touring G81 2024 | Thomas Bondan Tyas
