MAZDA AUTOZAM AZ-1 – THE MOST BIZARRE JDM SPORTSCAR

The most bizarre JDM car Mazda ever produced is actually ingenious! Meet the Mazda Autozam AZ-1.

One thing to keep in mind that may be a bit obvious is that just because a huge automotive manufacturer develops a car that makes it on to the production line, doesn't necessarily mean it will be sold worldwide, or even leave Japan in this case.

The Mazda Autozam AZ-1 at first glance looks incredibly ambitious, with styling that looks like a 90s JDM merged with a Ferrari F40. Together it looks incredibly bizarre, out of proportion and squashed, but with that said, it is actually very likeable!

To your surprise, this little JDM pocket-rocket comes standard with a limited-slip diff and rear-mounted turbocharged 657cc engine, pushing out a record-low 64 horsepower and 63 LB-Ft of torque. But, and this is a big but, this little engine revs all the way up to 9,000rpm! Which is higher than most cars today. The entire car weighs only 720kg, but that doesn't actually say much if its 0-60 time is around 11 seconds.

But its not only about speed, and this car should also have made it to many parts of the world and not just Japan, it probably would have gone down in history as that JDM car that was slow but still loved!
