NISSAN IS PLANNING TO GO FULL MANGA AT THE JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW 2025 - SUGOI!

Nissan is making a bold artistic statement at this year’s Japan Mobility Show 2025 (JMS 2025), turning its entire booth into a living manga panel. Think of it as stepping straight into the pages of a graphic novel - only this one’s electric, interactive, and distinctly Nissan. The theme for JMS this year is Culture, Creation, and Future - and it fits the brand like a custom-tailored racing suit. Nissan isn’t just showcasing cars; it’s showcasing Japan itself through one of its most powerful cultural exports: manga. At the centre of Nissan’s manga-inspired booth sits a mysterious vehicle under a black cloth, waiting for its reveal - widely expected to be the all-new Nissan Elgrand, alongside several new concepts designed to reignite excitement in the brand’s home market. The space itself looks like something pulled from an inked storyboard: black-and-white cityscapes wrap the walls, the floor is painted with intersection lines and crosswalks, and a massive illuminated “NISSAN” logo hovers above like a panel title. Visitors become part of the art as they move through the scene - snapping photos, sketching memories, and quite literally adding colour to the monochrome world. Nissan’s exhibit honours the creative DNA of Japan - a country where technology, art, and imagination often collide to create something new.

Japan’s manga culture isn’t just entertainment - it’s an industry, an identity, and a global phenomenon. What started in the post-war 1940s as simple illustrated stories evolved into an art form that has shaped generations. Creators like Osamu Tezuka, known as the “God of Manga,” pioneered cinematic storytelling that later evolved into anime, sparking international hits from Akira and Ghost in the Shell to Attack on Titan and One Piece.

Today, manga and anime are worth billions, influencing everything from fashion and gaming to architecture and even automotive design. Nissan’s latest creative direction taps into that same energy - bold, expressive, and unapologetically Japanese. By embracing manga’s hand-drawn aesthetic, Nissan isn’t just paying tribute; it’s celebrating how imagination drives progress. Just as anime once transformed global pop culture, Nissan aims to reimagine how we experience mobility - emotional, interactive, and artfully designed.

According to Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Global Design Chief: “As designers, we find profound inspiration in Japan’s vibrant creative culture. This year’s booth is a celebration of that spirit-melding artistry and innovation to offer visitors a glimpse into the future of mobility. While the visual concept sets the stage, the true essence will come alive once visitors step inside, bringing their own colour and energy to create a dynamic contrast against the backdrop.”

It’s that kind of sentiment that gives the exhibit its heartbeat. Nissan’s manga world isn’t passive - it’s participatory. Visitors are invited to energise the space, symbolising how creativity and community drive the next chapter of mobility. Beneath the illustrated charm lies the real purpose of the show: Nissan’s forward-thinking technologies. Expect to see next-generation EV platforms, connected-car ecosystems, and concept vehicles that hint at where Nissan’s design language is heading.  By transforming its JMS booth into a manga universe, Nissan is reminding the world that creativity fuels evolution. Japan gave us manga and anime; Nissan gives that same artistry wheels.

It's no secret that Nissan is in a bit of poo, and displays like this are an attempt to get people interested in the brand again - we like it, but will it help sales or merely be cool content for social media posts?: Manga-inspired world brought to life at Japan Mobility Show 2025 | Nissan | Nissan
