NORTHERN IRISH BENTLEY FANATIC ADDS BESPOKE APEX EDITION BENTAYGA TO HIS AWESOME COLLECTION

A lifelong Bentley enthusiast and seasoned collector, Mark King, has just taken delivery of one of the most exclusive Bentaygas ever built - the Apex Edition. Crafted by Bentley’s Mulliner division, this ultra-limited luxury SUV joins King’s already impressive fleet of high-performance Bentleys, reinforcing his passion for the British marque. His Apex Edition Bentayga is one of just 20 handcrafted examples worldwide and was commissioned to match his 2023 Le Mans Collection Continental GT, itself a tribute to Bentley’s triumphant return to the top step of the Le Mans podium in 2003 after a 73-year hiatus. While the Apex Edition Bentayga was offered in six meticulously curated color and trim themes, King’s example features the exclusive Verdant Green and Moonbeam livery - a specification reserved solely for owners of the Le Mans Collection Continental GT. As a collector with a deep appreciation for Bentley’s heritage, King’s garage already houses a Bentayga Speed, a rare Continental GT3-R, and a Continental Flying Spur - all of which see regular use. His Bentayga Speed alone has racked up over 100,000 miles, often serving as a tow vehicle for his other prized machines. When Bentley announced the Apex Edition Bentayga in full Le Mans livery, King needed no persuasion to add it to his collection.

The Apex Edition is based on the Bentayga S, Bentley’s sportiest interpretation of its luxury SUV. Under the hood sits a formidable 4.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged V8, pushing out 405 kW and 770 Nm of torque. This powerhouse launches the Bentayga from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km/h. Bentley’s Dynamic Ride active anti-roll control and rear-wheel steering sharpen handling, while a free-flowing sports exhaust enhances the V8’s signature snarl. Mulliner’s enhancements elevate the Apex Edition further, making it the most performance-focused Bentayga ever. The 22-inch Mulliner carbon wheels shave off 44 kg of unsprung mass, improving steering agility, while the addition of carbon-ceramic brakes delivers immense stopping power with resistance to fade. With its motorsport-inspired touches, the Apex Edition Bentayga is a worthy homage to Bentley’s endurance racing pedigree.

King’s Apex Edition Bentayga is the perfect companion to his Le Mans Collection Continental GT, a model created in 2023 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Bentley’s sixth overall victory at Le Mans. Its Verdant Green and Blackline specification is a direct nod to the winning #7 Speed 8, featuring a Beluga Black matrix grille with a painted #7 in Arctica White. Distinctive details include 22-inch black ten-spoke wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and red brake calipers. Inside, a high-gloss carbon fibre fascia inlays a six-wreath emblem, marking Bentley’s six Le Mans victories. The centerpiece of the cabin is the three-way Bentley Rotating Display, which reveals a central vitrine housing a section of an actual engine valve from the 2003 Speed 8 race car. At the heart of the Apex Edition’s exclusivity is Bentley Mulliner, the marque’s in-house coachbuilding and personal commissioning division. With a history tracing back to the 1500s as expert saddlers and carriage builders, Mulliner evolved into Bentley’s bespoke arm, crafting some of the most exclusive and tailored Bentleys ever built.

Mulliner operates in three key areas:

  • Coachbuilt – Bespoke, limited-production Bentleys like the Bacalar and Batur, where exclusivity meets extreme customization.

  • Collections – Curated, highly refined limited editions like the Le Mans Collection and Apex Edition, celebrating Bentley’s heritage and engineering excellence.

  • Personal Commissioning – One-off customizations, where clients work directly with Mulliner’s design team to create their perfect Bentley, from unique exterior finishes to handcrafted interior details.

Every Mulliner creation undergoes meticulous handcrafting, with extensive use of premium materials, cutting-edge technology, and centuries-old artisanal techniques. This division embodies Bentley’s commitment to luxury, performance, and individuality, ensuring that each vehicle is as unique as its owner.
