THE BLACK ROSE IS A SPECIALLY COMMISSIONED 1 OF 3 RHD BENTLEY BATUR - WITH 3D PRINTED ROSE GOLD.

Bentley has just unveiled a car so exclusive it makes regular Baturs look downright pedestrian. Enter ‘The Black Rose’ - a bespoke, one-of-a-kind expression of pure indulgence, wrapped in dark metallic paint and dripping in 3D-printed 18-karat rose gold. Built for a customer who clearly wanted to make a statement, this is not just a car - it’s an automotive flex of the highest order. One of just 18 Baturs being crafted by Bentley’s Mulliner division - and one of only three in right-hand drive - The Black Rose is the result of an extensive co-creation journey between the client and Mulliner’s design team. It features a deep, lustrous ‘Black Rose’ metallic paint, developed exclusively for this build, contrasted by a gloss Beluga upper body. Satin Rose Gold accents highlight key design elements, from the front grille and ‘endless bonnet line’ to the mirror caps, lower body kit, and even the 22” tri-tone wheels, framing a set of carbon ceramic brakes with black calipers. The real showstopper, though, is the interior. Bentley has pioneered an industry-first by incorporating 3D-printed, hallmarked 18-karat rose gold into the cabin—because regular metal just wouldn’t cut it for a car of this stature. Up to 210 grams of gold adorns key driver touchpoints, including the Drive Mode Selector, Bentley’s signature Organ Stop vent controls, and a rose gold marker on the steering wheel. Each piece was crafted in collaboration with master goldsmiths Cooksongold, using 100% recycled jewellery-grade gold - a subtle nod to sustainable luxury, if such a thing exists when you're commissioning a car like this. The rest of the interior serves as a dark, sophisticated canvas, with rich Beluga leather, charcoal grey tweed, and Black Rose-painted veneers bringing everything together. The result? A cabin that exudes mystery and opulence in equal measure.

Bentley’s investment in Additive Manufacturing (AM) - fancy talk for high-tech 3D printing - has taken customization to new heights. The Crewe factory’s AM capabilities have doubled thanks to a £3 million investment, allowing Bentley to transform digital CAD models into physical parts with remarkable precision. Every rose gold component in The Black Rose is hallmarked in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, guaranteeing authenticity. If manufactured in 2022, it even received the rare Jubilee hallmark, celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke division, has been shaping the world’s most exquisite automobiles since the 1920s, from personal commissions to fully coachbuilt masterpieces. With only 18 examples in existence, the Batur marked the beginning of a bold design shift for Bentley. Following its success, Bentley introduced the Batur Convertible in May 2024, the most powerful W12-powered drop-top in the brand’s history, further solidifying the legacy of this ultra-limited series. For those who believe luxury should be as exclusive as it is extravagant, The Black Rose is the ultimate statement piece. It’s an impressive process to 3D print with gold. It typically uses a process called Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) or Selective Laser Melting (SLM), both of which fall under the umbrella of metal additive manufacturing (AM). A detailed 3D CAD model is created and is then sliced into thin layers, so the printer knows how to build the object layer by layer. Instead of using filament-like plastic 3D printers, gold 3D printing starts with high-purity gold powder, usually 100% recycled jewellery-grade gold. It is atomized into ultra-fine particles, allowing it to be sintered (fused) with precision, the gold powder is spread in a thin layer across the build platform and a high-powered laser scans over the powder, melting and fusing it according to the CAD design. The platform lowers slightly, a new layer of gold powder is added, and the laser fuses the next layer - rinse/repeat. Some prints undergo hand-finishing by goldsmiths to refine intricate details. That’s it, Robert’s your mother’s brother. This repeats thousands of times until the full object is formed.
