THIS SUPERCHARGED HELLCAT-POWERED 6X6 HUMVEE IS SO INSANE PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WAS CGI!

In the world of customisation, the crew from Gas Monkey Garage pull off some properly amazing builds. Some are better than others, but that’s just because of personal taste. Some cars I love, others don’t like at all, and visa versa. To say that Richard Rawlings and his crew have an appreciation for proper builds is an understatement, so you must know that when they showcase someone else’s build on their own YouTube channel it’s going to be something well worth your time and attention. A few days ago they shared this thing through their social media channels and that’s where it caught our SXdrv attention. There were a bunch of short videos going around, and reading the comments on them was interesting. One thing that was mentioned more than a few times was that the showcased truck was done in CGI. That tells you something about how outrageous and over-the-top this Humvee build is, when what you see is so absolutely bonkers that you don’t know if you can trust your eyes or if someone could actually build a Humvee like that in real life. It really looks like something you’d see from the mind of rob3rtdesign. What you see here is a 2009 AM General Military Humvee, well it used to be. It’s not only the visuals that have been attended to in this project, the powerplant has been swapped to suit the new exterior. In stock form these GM High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV - where the Humvee name comes from) has one of four powerplants; a 6.2 litre V8 diesel, a 5.7 litre petrol V8, a 6.5 litre turbocharged diesel V8 and a non-turbo version of the same. With a 3 or 4-speed transmission, they can crack a top speed of 70 mph (113 km/h). All of that was chucked for one of the coolest crate engines available on the planet.

The insanely talented crews from Danton Arts Kustoms and Frenchy Export did all the right spannering under the expansive bonnet and the Humvee now features the monster supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat V8 powerplant that’s rated at a ridiculously high 717 hp, or in normal speak, a decent 535 kW with 881 Nm of torque. It’s mated to a 4L80E automatic transmission and power is sent to four wheels - at the rear, plus 2 in the front. That may have been the first thing you noticed - this is a 6x6! The factory-correct Humvee body was handcrafted in aluminium and metal, including chopping the roof and cutting down the rear section to accommodate the custom-designed 6x6 chassis configuration that was created using parts from a pair of Porsche Cayenne donor cars. The roof is from a Raptor. Matt Military Green paint was used throughout the vehicle with custom graphics and touchpoints made from the same DuraLiner used on military-duty Humvees. The wheels on the massive build are one-off custom off-road inspired wheels that are wrapped in 245/40R20 tyres up front with massive 305/35R24 rear tyres. This 6x6 features a smartphone-controlled remote start, lights, horn and turn signals. We quite like the roof scoop that directs approaching air into the rear of the chassis to keep the drivetrain cool. At the rear, there’s that massive tear wing that suits the whole theme just right. It’s actually made from a custom-modified aircraft wing. This amazing creation is also going up for sale at an upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction. There’s no price listed yet, but there is no reserve. We’re not sure how much something like this will fetch, but with the quality of work carried out along with the top-quality components and parts, it will likely be serious money when the happier drops.

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off one of the most badass builds we've ever seen. A comprehensively modified Humvee that dropped, chopped, engine swapped and has six wheels. The only problem with this thing is trying to find a place to park it: World's FIRST 6x6 Humvee!! | Gas Monkey Garage
