TOYOTA SA AND THE TOYOTA GAMING ENGINE SUPERCHARGE ESPORTS IN SA
Level up, South Africa - Esports is about to hit a whole new gear. The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) is kicking things up a notch, breaking down barriers and making competitive gaming more accessible than ever. With the backing of Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), this initiative isn’t just about sponsorship - it’s about reshaping the local Esports landscape, creating opportunities, and giving aspiring gamers a real shot at the big leagues. “At Toyota, we believe in the power of sports to foster inclusion and build sustainable communities,” says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors. “That’s why we’re going beyond the traditional role of a sponsor. Our mission is to uplift those without access to gaming equipment, unlocking potential in gamers who might never have had the chance to experience the thrill of competitive play.” Partnering with the African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) - South Africa’s leading Esports platform - TTGE is bringing competitive gaming to the masses. Whether you’re in the heart of Johannesburg or a quiet suburb in Cape Town, the playing field is being levelled like never before. What started with community-driven tournaments in the Western Cape is now expanding into Gauteng, opening the doors for more gamers to test their skills. While FIFA remains a cornerstone of the competition, mobile gaming tournaments are now on the roster, meaning anyone with a phone or a console can jump in and play. And it doesn’t stop at local tournaments. The most talented players won’t just win bragging rights—they’ll get the chance to train with professional gamers and represent their communities on the biggest stages, including Comic Con and the ACGL Gaming Championship (AGC) Tournaments. “By making Esports more accessible, we’re not just levelling the playing field - we’re creating a space where anyone can thrive, game, and grow,” concludes Crompton. “The future of South African Esports is bright, and we want everyone to be part of it.”
