BMW’s iNext, which is expected by 2021, will offer level 4 automation that requires little to no human interaction. For now, the idea about autonomous driving will just be an aid to get drivers through mundane aspects of driving, such as traffic.  

Although the iNext will still have a steering wheel and most likely pedals to let the driver choose whether they want to drive themselves or be driven autonomously. It would be an extremely brave decision if BMW ever decides to remove the steering wheel and pedals, you still might need to use them in certain circumstances.
