A HYPERCAR HEADS-UP FEATURING THE JESKO ATTACK AND THE CHIRON SUPER SPORT IS QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT!

Mat and the Carwow team have flown out to Dubai to get their hands on these awesome hypercars, and they’re about to go head-to-head as they race over the quarter-mile for the chequered flag. But which will come out on top? Let’s take a closer look at the stats. When it comes to hypercars, one name that consistently stands out is Koenigsegg, the Swedish automaker that’s more a mastermind’s workshop than a traditional car company. While industry giants wield budgets larger than the GDPs of small nations, Koenigsegg remains a small, fiercely independent outfit, steered by the sheer brilliance of Christian von Koenigsegg. His inventive genius is evident in the way he’s reimagined automotive engineering, not by simply tweaking existing designs but by pioneering groundbreaking technologies. One of the crown jewels of Koenigsegg’s hypercar lineup is the Jesko Attack. This is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8, and this creates 1,280hp (941 kW) and 1,000 Nm, which rises to 1,600 hp (1,170 kW) when the thing is run on E85 biofuel. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 9-speed multi-clutch gearbox, and it weighs a whole lot less than the challenger in this race, tipping the scales at just 1,420kg! This thing is claimed to hit 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds, 200 km/h in 5 seconds, and 300 km/h in just 10.6 sec. The quarter-mile run is claimed at just 9.6 seconds. That’s proper fast for a factory car, especially one that’s made for track exploits and not just a quick straight line.

The challenger in this ridiculously expensive drag race is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, which comes with your basic, run-of-the-mill quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 that produces a mere 1,600 hp (1,170 kW) and 1,600 Nm of torque. That monstrous power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the car weighs a rather hefty 1,995 kg. Having the world’s best all-wheel drive system along with 8 cylinders more than in a usual setup as well as the weight of four turbos. This specific car features several interior & exterior modifications, so it’s a little more special, but those things don’t do much for a 400 m dash. So the Bugatti is well up on power in this fight because the Jesko isn’t being fed with biofuel, but it weighs half a tonne more than the Koenigsegg and in a game of thrones like this, weight is a big deal. The Chiron Super Sport is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, 0 to 160 km/h in 4.0 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 5.7 sec, and 0 to 300 km/h in 12.9 seconds.  The quarter-mile drag time is claimed at 9.1 seconds. On paper, the Jesko in the quicker of the two hypercars, but stats on paper and real-world driving is not the same thing. The two cars are worth a combined £10 million and are both incredibly powerful. The video also includes rolling races and a brake test, showcasing the performance capabilities of these supercars. Because of our allegiance to all things VAG, we were keen on seeing the Bugatti win, but we also do quite like how Koenigsegg thinks outside of the box and creates mechanical and technical magic. For this one, it’s a coin flip. You?
