A TRIO OF 900 HP BRABUS SPECIALS HAVE A GO AT A DRAG RACE, BUT ONE JUST CAN'T LOSE.

When you hear the name BRABUS, you instantly think of jaw-dropping power and head-turning aesthetics, and their limited-edition Rocket series has consistently delivered some of the most impressive creations in the automotive world. Enter the BRABUS 900 Rocket R Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe, arguably the pinnacle of the Rocket lineage. Starting with the already near-perfect Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe, BRABUS elevated the experience to surpass the standards set by Porsche. And judging by the visuals and accompanying video, they’ve absolutely nailed it. The only catch? Just 25 of these beasts were made available, and they came with a price tag that’ll make most of us cry. As expected, BRABUS has employed liberal use of carbon fibre throughout the car, transforming the 911 into a visual and performance marvel. But it’s under the hood where BRABUS truly shines, and the BRABUS 900 Rocket R Porsche doesn’t disappoint. This car is packed with details that set it apart. Up front, an active carbon fibre lip spoiler can be adjusted from the cockpit, while a BRABUS Widestar front bumper, front fenders, and Kevlar-lined wheel arches add to the aggressive stance. Exposed-carbon rocker panels complement the design, and the car rides on staggered 22/21-inch BRABUS Monoblock P 5-spoke Platinum Edition wheels, complete with carbon fibre aero discs. The handling is equally impressive, thanks to a BRABUS sports suspension system featuring BRABUS coilovers and fully adjustable shocks. Inside, the cabin is a symphony of high-gloss carbon fibre, with elements in the centre console, aluminium BRABUS pedal pads, and carbon fibre door sill trims with LED-backlit BRABUS logos. Shadow Chrome finishes adorning the air vent surrounds, speaker grills, and switches, while BRABUS Ellipse quilted leather and black Alcantara cover every surface. The heart of this Rocket R is where the magic truly happens. The stock 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six, which produces 478 kW, has been pushed to an amazing 662 kW thanks to BRABUS high-performance turbochargers and some other necessary fiddling. This upgrade propels the 911 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in a blistering 7.2 seconds.

You can clearly tell we have a bit of Porsche bias in this drag race video from the Carwow crew. It’s not that the other contenders that also wear all the pretty and expensive bits from BRABUS aren’t good, they’re great, but Porsche is Porsche yo. The other BRABUS dogs in this fight represent the world of luxury SUVs and beefed-up luxury offroaders in the form of a fully modified Mercedes-AMG GLS and the boxy but lovable G63 that was the reason all the local ministers got into politics for in the first place - a gravy train-funded G63. In this case, they’re called the 900 Superblack GLS and the 900 Superblack G63. Both of these imposing AMG cars usually see fitment of the same specification twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8. These are BRABUS cars though, and that means some extensive (and expensive) modifications. The powerful and aurally pleasing German V8s were given a proper makeover including adding in an extra 500 cc of capacity seeing them now come in as a 4.5-litre. To make better use of that new larger bottom end, the turbochargers were upgraded along with all the necessary ancillaries including bespoke software for the engine management. As the new name suggests, these cars also have 900 hp (662 kW) with a massive 1,250 Nm of torque on tap to match the Porsche. They all share an all-wheel drive drivetrain, so logically the results will come down to how well each chassis exploits the new power, and of course, the weights of the cars. The GLS is massive and topples the scales with its 2,800 kg bulk, and even though the G63 looks like it skipped leg day, it comes in just 100 kg less at 2,700 kg. The Porsche is the lightweight contender of the modified German trio with a weight in the region of 1,600 kg. Even without being Porsche fanbois, the numbers alone suggest the 911 will be the fastest of the three, but we also know that numbers aren’t the be-all and end-all of car testing, real-world conditions count for a lot. Go Porsche!

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off three of the coolest full conversions offered by world-renowned tuning house, BRABUS. All these conversions take the cars to 900 hp and turn them into supercar slayers, but even though the power is equal, the cars are most certainly not: Brabus 900 Rocket R v 900hp AMGs: DRAG RACE | carwow
