THE HOT WHEELS RLC EXCLUSIVE MAGNUS WALKER URBAN OUTLAW PORSCHE 964 IS OUR FAV RELEASE FROM 2023

Magnus Walker is known for many things; fashion design, not looking like your typical Porsche owner and being in a bunch of movies and documentaries. While the man was already well-known in many circles, it was a 2012 documentary called Urban Outlaw that really threw him into the spotlight. People realised just how deep his Porsche passion was, and the way he built and modified cars gained him loads of interest and followers. Since then he’s blown up even more, in 2013 at the annual LA Auto Show someone from Porsche visited his displayed cars and it’s rumoured that they commented “We can't go as far as to say we endorse his work. That's pretty hard for a company like ours to say, but his cars have a unique style, and we have taken notice.” The man has become synonymous with Porsche, right now he’s the co-owner of one of the largest Porsche collections in the world housed in a 2-story, 26,000-square-foot LA warehouse. Being that kind of famous has perks, an awesome Nike collab for a limited number run of Nike SB Dunk High sneakers modelled on his 1971 Porsche 911 T known as the 277. Design cues reference the Porsche with 277 branding on the outer heel and insole, colour blocking similar to the car's design, and a patina design with gold under white, a red and green flannel sock liner, a Union Jack on the tongue tag and Nike SB branding on the outer side of the midsole in traditional Porsche font. They’re awesome, and sell for around R10k if you can find some.

The 2023 collab with Hot Wheels produced what we here at SXdrv recon is one of the coolest cars released in 2023, and sadly it wasn’t a public release, it was done direct to members of the Hot Wheels Red Line Club. This makes them hard to come by, and they cost a little more than the release price of $25 now. They’d cost a heck of a lot more if they were numbered, but oddly they weren’t even with limited numbers. The RLC Exclusive Magnus Walker “Urban Outlaw” Porsche 964 features an opening rear hood with a detailed engine, it wears Spectraflame Mint paint on a ZAMAC body and also has Walker’s Urban Outlaw logo along with the Porsche Owners Club logo and authentic manufacturer logos. The teeny car rolls on two-piece Real Riders fifteen52 Outlaw wheels with gold hubs and it looks just freaking right. There’s even more detail inside as the car has a Sage Green interior with authentic plaid seats and a rear cage that you can spy through the tinted windows. You can see why we rate the collectable car as 2023’s best release. “Magnus Walker’s unique blend of playfulness and unerring approach has turned each and every one of his prized Porsches into a one-of-a-kind piece of automotive art. And just like our other Magnus Walker Porsche models, we made sure we captured the fun, unyielding spirit of the “Urban Outlaw” from the paint colour to the interior to the wheels. The ultimate law of Urban Outlaw: ‘If you don’t bother with convention, anything is possible.’” reads the description on the Hot Wheels website.

Take a look at the YouTube video that details what we reckon is the coolest Hot Wheels release of 2023, but we're massive Porsche fans, we dig Magnus Walker and we also have a thing for Fifteen52 Wheels and that combination makes us a little biased. It's also cool that it's an official Hot Wheels car that has proper aftermarket mods on it - what a win. We don't have one though, so that sucks: Hot Wheels Porsche 964 (2023 RLC Exclusive!
