PORSCHE INTRODUCES A MANTHEY UPGRADE FOR THE 718 CAYMAN GT4 RS - WE LIKE!

Porsche recently unveiled an impressive performance upgrade for the 368 kW 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The thing is, the new and optional Manthey-Racing Kit only pays attention to the handling dynamics and no modifications are done to the power output. Behind the wheel during this amazing lap of the Nordschleife circuit was Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who completed a lap in a jaw-dropping 7:03.121 minutes. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit demonstrated its dominance by outpacing its counterpart without the upgrade by an exact margin of 6.179 seconds. That’s a huge gap for an upgrade focused on enhancing aerodynamics and chassis components, of which the modifications were the result of a collab between engineers from Porsche Motorsport and Nordschleife specialists at Manthey and were developed exclusively for track day enthusiasts. Visually recognizable by its aero parts, the Manthey Kit showcases a range of enhancements - at the front, flaps and new air curtains complement a wheel arch Gurney flap and a carbon underbody with diffusers to maximize front-end downforce, while the rear of the car has an 85-millimetre wider wing with a new blade and larger endplates, increasing rear downforce. With improved aero, there was a need to reinforce the rear engine cover's bodywork with a carbon-weave finish. The aerodiscs on the rear wheels, made of CFRP, help reduce turbulence and complete the aerodynamic package. When the rear wing is set to Performance mode for track use, at 200 km/h the total downforce rises from 89 kg to a massive 169 kg.

Working in conjunction with Manthey-Racing, Porsche has developed a specialized coilover suspension featuring an inverted set-up for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, ensuring adaptability to the track. With four adjustable positions for spring struts and adjustable rebound and compression stages, the suspension allows for flexibility without the need for tools. A 20 % increase in spring rates on the front suspension enhances performance even more. The kit offers two chassis versions; one for cars with a lift system on the front and one without. Steel brake lines guarantee precise pressure points, resulting in optimal braking power delivery. For the discerning driver, special racing brake pads with consistent friction behaviour across a broad temperature range are available as an option. Adding a touch of personalization are illuminated door sill guards featuring the Manthey logo. Track-specific towing loops are also offered optionally. For those wanting even more, the kit can be complemented by a specially designed CFRP rear spoiler attachment, increasing rear downforce by around 4 % when combined with the larger rear wing. The visuals get even better with the optional carbon-weave finish wheel arch vents that align with the Weissach package. The Manthey Kit will be available worldwide through Porsche Centres, and we’d love to see one here in SA, there just needs to be someone willing to part with an extra R855 000, give or take a few thousand, over the initial R3 200 000 price tag of the Cayman GT4 RS.

As you'll see, he managed to shave more than 6 seconds off the time set by the production version of the car, proof that the Manthey Kit is worth the money: On board footage of the Manthey Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is exceptional | CWMedia
