ASTON MARTIN'S AMR24 FORMULA 1 CAR IS LOOKING RATHER GOOD.
Formula One’s unofficial launch season has been happening, the 2024 teams have been slowly showing us what their new cars and livery will look like. McLaren kicked things off with the reveal of their new car the other day. As the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix approaches, the rest of the teams are gearing up to show the world what their 2024 campaign will look like. Of course, the livery is one aspect, many fanatical F1 fans are a little more interested in the changes carried out to their cars, if any, for the new season. The livery counts a lot though, fans want to see something new, but not so new that their cupboards full of official fan merchandise don’t look like they’re rooting for the same team. Thankfully the teams do use very similar colours unless there’s been a major sponsor shift that requires a large colour change. Aston Martin, who will be running under the team name of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, once again sports a British Racing Green livery and the new sponsor logos. It’s a neat and clean look, typically British, and it looks great. The car will stand out on screen, maybe not as much as the Papaya McLaren, but it’ll look just right under the lights at a night race. Have you ever looked at an F1 car and seen the sponsor logos without knowing what or who they represent? I’ve watched whole Formula One seasons and never known what companies some of the major sponsors were all about, so to change it for this season, I’m doing a bit of research to see who’s bankrolling things. Aramco is clearly a headline sponsor seeking as it even appears in the team name. This sponsor is Saudi Aramco, which is officially the Saudi Arabian Oil Group. It’s a massive state-owned petroleum and natural gas company, which is also the national oil company of Saudi Arabia and the second-largest company in the world by revenue. The powers-that-be at Aston Martin and Aramco signed a 5-year sponsorship deal that will see the energy conglomerate as the team’s title sponsor.
According to F1.com, team owner Lawrence Stroll, Team Principal Mike Krack, Technical Director Dan Fallows and drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were all on hand for the unveiling of the AMR24. Krack said: “We have tried to focus on all areas of our predecessor, the AMR23, which had a great season, full of positives, last year. But then we have not left any stone unturned. We have really tried to look at every area, be it the car, be it the operations, be it reliability, to make a step forward in all directions. It has been very intense over a couple of months since we finished the [last] season and we hope we have done enough. We are sure that we will have a strong contender.” As for what’s new on Aston Martin’s latest challenger, Dan Fallows added: “We have managed to make a step on last year’s car. We’re very pleased with what we’ve been able to achieve. Really, it’s the first step, and this season we want to make sure we’ve got a good platform for development. That’s what we’ve been really focusing on and I think we’ve managed to achieve that. We’ve made changes all over the car. It’s very different in many ways and the majority of the parts have changed on it. But it is really still essentially a strong evolution of last year’s car, so we have kind of built on the end of AMR23. The obvious things you’ll see that are different are things like the front nose and front wing, the bodywork is different, but there’s also quite a lot under the hood which hopefully you won’t see! We will obviously try and keep some of that under wraps.”
Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off the all-new livery for the new Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 car. It looks great, as expected, and keeps things in the colour scheme that fans are used to. Hopefully the new car and livery will have a better season at the hands of drivers Lance Stroll and the real OG, Fernando Alonso: AMR24 Reveal | Hyper-focus | Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team
