FORD GT ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER LEAVES TO REBUILD KARMA (FISKER)

Kip Ewing is a famous name in Dearborn…or at least, was. One of the men behind the new Ford GT supercar, Ewing has left his gig at Ford to move on to greener pastures. And we mean that literally. The former Ford GT Assistant Chief Engineer now calls Karma (formerly Fisker) home.

If you remember Fisker, then you remember the hybrid-electric luxury sedan known as the Karma. These cars had an impressive range of roughly 300 miles, and were quite the status symbol until the company went belly up. This had a lot to do with the car’s propensity for catching fire.

The defunct company was split up with one group owning the body design, and a second group owning the electric car technology. That second side of things is where Ewing has ended up. This new offshoot of the old company is calling itself Karma because that’s not at all confusing.

According to Jalopnik, they’re even located in the old Fisker building in Michigan. They will be using a re-engineered version of the original electric car to hopefully produce something better than the old Fisker Karma. They have the makings of an impressive team so it’ll be interesting to see what they manage to build.
