HOW MUCH POWER WILL A $2,500 48 VOLT ELECTRIC TURBO ADD?

It's science time with Cleetus McFarland and his team to find out how much power a $2,500 48-volt electric turbo will give their Chevrolet Cobalt.

Cleetus McFarland and his team have tried an electric turbo before, but it turned out to be a bust mainly because it was a tiny turbo on a big V8. This time, though, they've got themselves a 2.2-litre four-pot in the shape of a Chevrolet Cobalt, and a $2,500 48-volt electric turbo from the guys at Torqamp.

An electric turbo is quite a thing. Instead of relying on the exhaust gas to spool it up, it's got a battery pack and a handy button to activate it. Sort of like flipping the switch on nitrous.

So, the question is, how much more power does it deliver? The results may astound you, so I recommend watching the video below as they try out their new science project.
