ILLEGAL FORMULA 1 INNOVATIONS THAT WILL BE ALLOWED IN 2022

It has been confirmed that the 2022 Formula 1 season will feature entirely new cars on the grid. Each will feature brand new concepts and features, but some of these new features which were previously considered illegal, will now be allowed next year.

The FIA controls pretty much everything around Formula 1, and always has the final say as to what is and what isn't allowed by the participating race teams. However, as time goes on, and proper testing is conducted, some of those features and new innovations may become available in the years to come. And that's exactly what is going to happen in 2022.

Here are some previously illegal Formula 1 innovations that will make a comeback in 2022:

  • Side venturi tunnels
  • 18 Inch rims and wheel covers
  • Wheel deflector panels
  • The return of the beam wing
  • Complex bargeboard development
