KTM UNLEASHES THE 2025 990 DUKE R – THE ULTIMATE PUNISHER!

KTM has just unleashed the 2025 990 DUKE R, a pretty damn awesome addition that redefines aggression and performance in the middleweight Naked Bike segment. It’s amped up with a more intense stance, tech-loaded features, and a ready-to-race spirit. The 990 DUKE R, aka The Punisher, is primed to set the streets and tracks alight in true KTM style. After 30 years of the DUKE legacy, KTM marks the milestone anniversary with its most ruthless rendition to date. With its raw white, matte black, and KTM’s signature Electronic Orange frame, the 990 DUKE R gives a nod to the iconic KTM 990 SUPER DUKE R, especially the coveted second-gen model from back in 2011-2013, a model that’s still sought after today and it still fetches good money. That R on the tank is a sign of no compromises – this beast is here to dominate. The tech on the 2025 990 DUKE R goes beyond anything we’ve seen in this lineup before. The Punisher features a next-gen 8.88-inch TFT touchscreen with inductive technology that works even when the rider is wearing the proper riding gloves, split-screen functionality, and optimized readability that gives riders an interface that’s as intuitive as it is advanced. Navigation, customizable ride modes, and new SPORT ABS and SUPERMOTO+ ABS let riders tailor their 990 DUKE R to suit any scenario, whether it’s tearing up a track or carving up backroads. With the new KTM 990 DUKE’s LC8c 947 cc engine now roaring at 96 kW, up from last year’s 91 kW, riders get more firepower without adding weight, and that translates to a quicker all-round bike. The 103 Nm of torque and the high-revving 10,500 RPM ceiling means it’s all about instant and explosive power delivery. The R-version’s reworked mapping allows the engine to hit harder and faster, making it the go-to weapon in the middleweight category.

Even the ergonomics have been tweaked to let riders push this tweelie even harder. With a raised seat height and ground clearance (both up by 15 mm), a steeper swingarm angle, and increased suspension travel, riders can lean in a full three degrees more than before without shattering a knee or elbow. It’s all anchored by a linkage-updated frame and swingarm, providing killer mechanical grip so you can really push this machine. The 990 DUKE R’s WP APEX suspension is fully adjustable, front and back, with upgraded specs to keep things sharp and responsive. Up front, a stiffer Open Cartridge fork with 143 mm of travel (up from 43 mm to 48 mm in diameter) absorbs punishment and keeps the ride planted. The WP APEX rear shock, matched with a new linkage setup, boasts 140 mm travel and linear springing for high-stakes handling on the track or street. When it’s time to reel in the speed, the Punisher uses the best in the business, it’s fitted with Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers paired with a Brembo MCS master cylinder and larger 320 mm discs that offer pinpoint braking precision. Add Michelin Power Cup 2 tyres – straight from the KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R – and you’ve got the grip, agility, and machine to attack all roads and racetracks. KTM knows riders want their machines to be as unique as their riding style. The 990 DUKE R arrives with a full lineup of KTM PowerParts and PowerWear options, ensuring you can tailor it for the perfect fit, performance, and flair. The 2025 KTM 990 DUKE R is coming to authorized KTM dealers in early 2025. You’ll know when it’s available because The Punisher won’t exactly blend in. This one will surely rule the middleweight Naked battlefield.
