OFF-ROADING ABU DHABI'S HILL OF HORRORS AT THE LIWA SPORTS FESTIVAL
The Liwa Sports Festival, or the Hill Of Horrors, is considered one of Abu Dhabi's premier off-road racing events.
Dubai's automotive scene and car culture is best known for being filled with some of the most exclusive supercars and hypercars, so it goes without saying that the racing scene carries over some of the same characteristics, and for the most part that's exactly it. But there is so much more as well!
One of the biggest racing scenes in Abu Dhabi is quite frankly the opposite of low-to-the-ground speed machines, but rather ones that make use of the desert dunes as their racetrack instead!
A spectator sport called the Liwa Sports Festival sees nearly 100,000 people attend every year. The event takes place at one of the steepest sand dunes in Abu Dhabi, where extremely modified off-roaders compete, some of which reach up to 1,500hp in their off-road machines!
Needless to say, things can go horribly wrong very quickly, especially on such unpredictable terrain! But the atmosphere at this extreme festival is what makes it one for your bucket list!
