OMG! GSE: OPEL UNLEASHES THE MOKKA GSE RALLY PROTOTYPE – A GLIMPSE INTO THE ELECTRIC RALLY FUTURE.

The fifth season of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup ‘powered by GSE’ has just lit up the stages once again, proving that electric rallying isn’t just a gimmick - it’s a glimpse into the future of motorsport, much to the dismay of all the ICE purists out there. Opel isn’t content with just proving the concept works, they're stepping up their game with something that’s truly electrifying: the Opel Mokka GSE Rally. This sharp-edged, high-voltage prototype isn’t just a rolling concept - it’s a real-deal, next-gen rally weapon. Packing 207 kW and 345 Nm of torque, the Mokka GSE Rally is Opel’s declaration that the future of rallying can be fully electric - fully hardcore. Built using lessons learned from the successful Corsa Rally Electric, this new machine turns the dial up to eleven.

“With the Opel Mokka GSE Rally, we’re offering a glimpse of a fully electric next-generation rally car. Thanks to the latest motorsport tech, it delivers serious performance and power aplenty,” says Opel and Vauxhall CEO Florian Huettl.

Visually, the GSE Rally is pure attitude. It wears Opel’s motorsport DNA, decked out in dramatic livery emblazoned with ‘OMG! GSE’ graphics, yellow brake calipers, matching yellow rear wheels, and that distinctive roof-mounted air intake that screams ‘stage ready’. The contrast-coloured MOKKA GSE RALLY text pops against the black bonnet, while aggressive body accents hint at the EV beast within.

Beneath the surface lies a serious arsenal of rally-spec hardware: a racing gearbox, a multi-plate limited-slip differential, reinforced driveshafts and wheel hubs, and a full Bilstein rally suspension setup with McPherson struts, uniball mounts, and a rigid rear axle with tuned springs and dampers. Just like a proper rally car should, it comes without any of the electronic safety nets - no ABS, no ESP, no traction control, no compromises - only raw, driver-focused electric performance. The 54 kWh battery, carried over from the production Mokka Electric, feeds a heavily reworked drivetrain tuned for maximum rally efficiency and durability. The software behind the motor and battery management has been tweaked for high-performance action to ensure peak performance in all conditions.

Inside, it's pure motorsport with a legit FIA-homologated roll cage, rally-ready race seats with six-point harnesses, high-voltage safety encapsulation, a rapid-response Master Alarm Indicator system, and a specialised fire suppression setup with a non-conductive agent designed specifically for EVs. The Mokka GSE Rally is also making history as the world’s first electric rally car built to FIA’s upcoming eRally5 regulations, setting the stage for potential global competition use from the 2026 season.

“The Mokka GSE Rally will give Opel Motorsport fans real OMG! GSE moments. It proves our GSE sub-brand is going to the next level in 2025 - serving up electric thrills with serious performance, true to our rich motorsport heritage,” says Rebecca Reinermann, VP of Marketing for Opel and Vauxhall.

Since the launch of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup in 2021, the program has already hosted 33 rally events across six countries, with 63 drivers from 13 nations taking part. The response from fans, drivers, and the motorsport world has been overwhelmingly positive - and the Mokka GSE Rally aims to push those boundaries even further. SA market side note: Sadly, we’re unlikely to see the Mokka Electric - or its rally-ready sibling - on South African soil anytime soon. But if Opel SA ever decides to bring in a few units, you can bet your bottom rand they’d have a queue of gravel racing junkies and EV fans ready to sign up.

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off the latest factory-modified rally car from the house of Opel that's set to compete in motorsport's electric series in Europe. As much as many don't like EVs, you cannot argue how damn cool this thing looks: MOKKA GSE RALLY – A RIDE TO REMEMBER | Opel
