THE 911 SPIRIT 70 IS A LIMITED-EDITION WORK OF OLIVE NEO & PASHA ART. WE'RE FANS.
Unveiled under the bright lights of the Shanghai Auto Show, Porsche dropped the curtain on their latest collector’s piece - the 911 Spirit 70 - a wild fusion of disco-era swagger and 21st-century tech. Limited to just 1,500 units, this open-top stunner is the third model in Porsche’s Heritage Design lineup, following the Targa 4S Heritage Edition in 2020 and the oh-so-tasty 911 Sport Classic from 2022. The Spirit 70? It’s the ‘70s and early ‘80s reborn - with some spicy electrification thrown in. Say hello to Olive Neo, a rich green hue made just for this car. It’s contrasted by Bronzite accents - a classy grey-gold tone that paints the front and rear sections, plus those deliciously retro Sport Classic “Fuchs” wheels. The black soft top and matching windscreen frame tie it all together like a vinyl-wrapped cherry on top. Porsche went full retro with the decals - with three subtle satin black stripes across the hood, throwing back to old-school visibility stripes used in '70s motorsport, and some classic “lollipop” roundels on the doors, ready for a custom race number. Even the Porsche crest up front is a near-match to the original 1963 design. Step in and your eyeballs are immediately hit with that iconic Pasha pattern - the black and Olive Neo checkerboard-like design that’s a glorious, moving optical illusion. Once a velour showstopper in period cars, it's now reborn with modern textiles and flock yarns for a sportier feel and more comfort. Porsche didn’t skimp - Pasha graces the seats, door cards, glove box, and even the optional dash inserts. Add in 18-way adjustable Sports Seats Plus, a reversible Pasha boot mat, and lashings of basalt black club leather with Olive Neo stitching, and you’ve got an interior that says Sunday Cars & Coffee cruiser meets Saturday night Studio 54. The gauge cluster throws it back too - with white needles, green digits, and a clean analogue-inspired display. Even the Sport Chrono stopwatch wears the same colour theme, just to drive that retro point home.
While it may wear flared jeans and gold badges, the 911 Spirit 70 is built on the thoroughly modern 992-gen Carrera GTS Cabriolet. And Porsche didn't just slap on stickers - they dropped in a whole performance hybrid powertrain. Here's the spec drop:
Newly developed 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six
Paired with an eTurbo system
Electric motor integrated into the 8-speed PDK
Total output: 398 kW and 610 Nm of torque
It’s not just green in paint - it’s a nod to where Porsche’s headed with their hybridised future. Expect the same ferocious GTS performance, just with a bit more electric twist when you punch it off the line. As if the car wasn’t exclusive enough, Porsche Design whipped up a matching chronograph for owners. The dial mimics the Pasha pattern, and the rest of it? Dripping with Spirit 70 vibes. Plus, there’s a lifestyle range to go full send - daywear, model cars, and accessories to show you’re in the 1,500-club. This is a brand-new, limited-edition Porsche rolling time machine. Channelling the groove of the ‘70s with the grit of today’s tech and just enough insanity to make collectors melt. Pricing? Not officially announced yet, but given the 911 Sport Classic came in north of R4 million, expect this to land well above that. For us mere mortals… a regular GT3 still sounds like a damn good dream.
