PORSCHE HONOURS 50 YEARS OF ANDIAL WITH A SPECIAL 911 GT3 DESIGN WRAP - HOT!

Porsche is paying tribute to one of the most influential names in its motorsport history with a striking new 911 GT3 design wrap, unveiled during PCA Werks Reunion at Monterey Car Week. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of ANDIAL, the package takes direct inspiration from the iconic livery of the legendary ANDIAL-prepared 935-L, a car that wrote itself into endurance racing folklore in the early 1980s. Formed in 1975 in Southern California by three Porsche devotees - Arnold Wagner (AN), Dieter Inzenhofer (DI), and Alwin Springer (AL) - ANDIAL quickly became a powerhouse in Porsche performance and endurance racing. At a time when Porsche’s European factory efforts were setting benchmarks, ANDIAL became the definitive Porsche authority in North America, preparing engines and cars that would dominate events such as Daytona, Sebring, and Riverside.

What set ANDIAL apart was its meticulous blend of factory support and American ingenuity. Their engineering philosophy revolved around reliability under extreme stress - lessons learned from 24-hour endurance battles that later filtered into their street-performance programs. For many Porsche enthusiasts in the U.S., an ANDIAL-prepped car was the ultimate statement: race-bred performance, made tangible for the road.

The Porsche 935 itself was already a titan, the factory-developed Group 5 turbocharged monster that dominated international competition. ANDIAL, however, took the concept even further. The 935-L (for “Langheck” or “long tail”) was developed with Porsche’s blessing to optimise high-speed aerodynamics for endurance races like Le Mans and Daytona.

The car’s stretched bodywork, massive rear overhang, and finely honed aero surfaces gave it a silhouette unlike anything else on the track. Beneath that body, ANDIAL’s tuning expertise extracted staggering power from Porsche’s 3.0-litre and later 3.2-litre flat-six turbo engines, delivering both reliability and earth-shaking speed. The ANDIAL 935-L became a fixture in IMSA racing, taking on both factory-backed competition and privateer rivals with a level of preparation that set new standards in the paddock. Its livery - sharp, purposeful, and unmistakably tied to the ANDIAL identity - became a calling card for excellence.

Fast-forward to today, and Porsche is reimagining that same spirit for the modern era. The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 (Type 992.2) now offers a special “ANDIAL 50” livery package, hand-applied by artisans at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen.

The wrap directly echoes the original 935-L, incorporating:

Heritage-inspired graphics with ANDIAL branding.

A two-digit race number on the hood and doors (chosen by the customer or omitted for subtlety).

Driver-name and country-flag decals positioned above the doors.

Special touches like a painted key, key pouch, manual case, floor mats, and door sills - all carrying the ANDIAL logo.

The design is available on new GT3 builds via the Porsche configurator, while a retrofit option will be offered for existing GT3 owners.

“The GT3 embodies the connection between Porsche motorsport technology and road cars in much the same way ANDIAL applied racing expertise to customer cars,” said Volker Holzmeyer, CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. “This tribute is more than just a design wrap - it’s a celebration of a philosophy, one that pushed Porsche to new heights in America.”

Like its forebear, the modern GT3 represents the bleeding edge of track-focused performance that remains usable on the street. Powered by Porsche’s new T-Hybrid 3.6-litre boxer engine, the 992.2 GT3 combines naturally aspirated character with electrified responsiveness, sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds with a top speed of 312 km/h. It’s an evolution that mirrors ANDIAL’s original ethos - blending innovation, endurance, and performance. From the screaming flat-sixes of Daytona’s high banks to today’s hybrid-honed GT3s, ANDIAL’s name is etched permanently into Porsche’s racing DNA. Fifty years on, its influence is still visible every time a Porsche takes the checkered flag, and this special 911 GT3 wrap ensures the connection between road and racetrack remains as strong as ever.
